Job Description

Imagine starting your day from your home base in Rochester, NY—your service truck stocked, your schedule queued, and customers depending on your know‑how. As PALFINGER’s Mobile Hydraulic Crane & Forklift Service Mechanic, you’ll keep truck‑mounted lifting systems performing at their best while representing a global leader known for 90+ years of engineering innovation. You’ll report to the Regional Field Service Manager and operate remotely throughout the Rochester area.

How your day unfolds

  • Head on site to diagnose and repair articulating cranes, truck‑mounted forklifts, conveyors, trucks, and trailers—often solving hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical challenges independently.
  • Knock out quarterly preventive maintenance aligned to customer schedules, complete Annual DOT inspections, and handle warranty service with precision.
  • Jump on emergency or unscheduled calls—during regular hours and after hours—to minimize customer downtime.
  • Translate technical findings into plain language for job site and fleet managers, ensuring clear next steps.
  • Capture clean service documentation: estimates, work order approvals, parts ordering and tracking, labor entries, and inventory notes—timely and accurate.
  • Operate safely and compliantly with all state and federal regulations; keep your company vehicle and work areas organized and professional.

What you’ll bring

  • Deep hands‑on skill across mechanical, hydraulics, electrical systems, diagnostics, and welding.
  • Comfort working outdoors in all weather; able to sit, stand, bend, squat, crouch, reach, and lift 75lbs+ for extended periods.
  • 3+ years of mechanical experience or training, ideally with articulating cranes and forklifts.
  • English fluency (spoken and written).
  • Valid CDL driver’s license—or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire.
