Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Senior EHS Specialist to lead EHS training, compliance, and safety leadership initiatives in a complex high-tech environment. This role will assess and improve existing programs, build scalable training systems, strengthen leadership accountability, and support a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and improve the site’s EHS training program, including training matrices, compliance tracking, LMS management, and audit readiness.
- Drive training compliance to 98–100% and ensure alignment with OSHA/Cal-OSHA, corporate standards, and site-specific risks.
- Develop and deliver Safety Leadership Training for supervisors, managers, and senior leaders, incorporating HOP, leadership accountability, safety engagement, and incident investigation.
- Deliver classroom and hands-on training and develop train-the-trainer capabilities.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and other SMEs to ensure workforce competency.
- Support incident investigations and translate findings into training and safety improvements.
- Track and report training compliance, certifications, leadership engagement, and training-related incident trends.
- Influence leaders and drive accountability across multiple site functions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of EHS experience, preferably in semiconductor, high-tech manufacturing, or complex R&D environments.
- Proven experience developing or transforming EHS training programs.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA requirements.
- Experience with LMS and training compliance systems.
- Strong leadership, facilitation, communication, and influencing skills.
Preferred
- CSP, ASP, CHST, or similar certification.
- Experience with laser safety, electrical/QEW safety, hazardous materials, and chemical safety.
- Knowledge of HOP, Learning Teams, and structured investigation methodologies.
Ideal Candidate
A self-directed builder and problem-solver who can quickly identify gaps, create structure, influence leaders without direct authority, and turn EHS requirements into practical workforce capability.
First 6–12 Month Success Measures
- Sustain 98–100% training compliance.
- Implement a functional training matrix and LMS structure.
- Launch the Safety Leadership Training program.
- Improve audit readiness and documentation.
- Reduce repeat incidents related to training or competency gaps.
- Demonstrate measurable value and positive leadership feedback.
Why It Matters: This role is central to strengthening the site’s safety performance by developing capable employees and leaders—not simply maintaining compliance.
