Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:\n
\nPerform as a Communication Engineer on more complex engineering assignments. Perform a variety of engineering assignments in the application of technology through assessment, review and oversight of testing, installation, integration, sustainment, operations, and maintenance of aircraft, subsystems, components, support equipment and telemetry ground station facilities. Independently performs a range of communication engineering tasks. \n
\n1. Understand instrumentation, communication telemetry system platforms, expansion, configuration control, backups, and design and implement system architects. Trained, experienced and operate using various recognized industry standards.\n
\n2. Effectively apply knowledge of IRIG 106 and IGIR 118 performance parameters of digital recorder systems and recorder memory modules, to test compatibility and standard compliance, and to increase interoperability for systems under development and test.\n
\n3. Knowledge of Cellular Communication Systems and Operation: 3GPP standards and 4G LTE and 5G NR\n
\n4. Apply engineering skill and experience and assists the development team in wireless communication and telemetry system design and testing to review, analyze, document, and specify requirements and products and ensure a minimum life cycle cost.\n
\n5. Support the development team and scientific/engineering/technical personnel in defining technical problems, causes and solutions involving the development of real-time data applications. \n
\n6. Review contractor hardware/software documentation, test procedures and results, trade-off studies and software coding. \n
\n7. Support flight test readiness, and technical reviews; and accomplish quality assurance testing and inspections, cost studies, and risk assessments. \n
\n8. Assist in the preparation of engineering communication and telemetry data requirements for inclusion in contracts and in the evaluation of contractor submitted engineering data such as specifications, drawings, ECPs, etc. \n
\n9. Install, modify, inspect, test, adjust, and repair communication and telemetry system electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to collect, process, transmit, receive and record data; ability to use lab test equipment (spectrum analyzers, power meters, network analyzers, signal generators, etc.)\n
\n10. Trace out and test electronic circuitry and components to locate defective parts using test equipment, schematics, and manuals\n
\n11. Prepare, red line and document schematic drawings, sketches, and draft reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems; familiar with AutoCAD,\n
\nEducation and Work Experience Requirements:\n
\nThe incumbent must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 5 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited Master of Science in Engineering with at least 3 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited doctoral degree in Engineering. The incumbent must have a mastery of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enables the employee to serve as a technical authority on projects relating to the specific programs. The position requires knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area along with excellent communications and analytical skills. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools and possess planning/organizing skills. The position may require the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software. \n
\nIncumbent will be required to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and must have a valid, current state driver’s license. \n
