GI Lab RN – Hospital-Based GI Lab

\n

Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – GI Lab / Endoscopy
Contract Length: 10 Weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Hours:

  • 3 days/week: 7:15 AM–5:45 PM
  • \n

  • 1 day/week: 6:45 AM–5:15 PM
  • \n

  • 1 scheduled day off per week
  • \n

  • No scheduled weekend shifts
  • \n

Call Requirements\n

    \n
  • Weekend call: Approximately every 8–10 weeks, from Friday 5:30 PM through Monday 7:00 AM
  • \n

  • Weeknight call: Approximately once every 2 weeks, from 5:30 PM–7:00 AM
  • \n

  • No regularly scheduled weekend shifts
  • \n

Position Overview\n

We are seeking an experienced GI Lab RN to join a busy hospital-based procedural GI team performing approximately 40–50 procedures per day.

\n

The RN must have prior hospital-based GI/Endoscopy procedural experience and be comfortable functioning in both the RN and Endoscopy Tech roles. Due to the specialized nature of the department and limited orientation time, candidates without prior GI Lab/Endoscopy experience will not be considered.

Responsibilities\n

    \n
  • Provide nursing care throughout GI/endoscopy procedures
  • \n

  • Function as both RN and Endoscopy Tech as needed
  • \n

  • Assist with procedural setup, equipment, and scopes
  • \n

  • Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures
  • \n

  • Administer/assist with sedation according to scope of practice
  • \n

  • Work closely with anesthesia and the procedural team
  • \n

  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic Op-Time
  • \n

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • \n

  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative procedural team
  • \n

  • Colonoscopy
  • \n

  • EGD
  • \n

  • ERCP
  • \n

  • EUS
  • \n

  • Colonoscopy with EMR
  • \n

  • EGD with dilation
  • \n

  • EUS with fine-needle aspiration
  • \n

  • Liver biopsies
  • \n

  • PEG tube placements
  • \n

Sedation\n

    \n
  • Most procedures utilize MAC sedation with anesthesia present
  • \n

  • Some moderate sedation procedures are performed, but less frequently
  • \n

Required Experience\n

    \n
  • Recent hospital-based GI Lab / Endoscopy procedural experience – REQUIRED
  • \n

  • Experience functioning as both an RN and Endoscopy Tech – REQUIRED
  • \n

  • Experience with GI scopes, equipment, and procedural workflow
  • \n

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced procedural environment
  • \n

  • Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills
  • \n

  • Epic Op-Time experience preferred
  • \n

\n

Important: This is a specialized procedural position. Candidates must have prior GI Lab/Endoscopy experience due to the complexity of the procedures and the limited training period available.
