The Assignment

Security officers may be deployed to a variety of locations across the Hagerstown region, including manufacturing facilities, retail establishments, shopping centers, and other commercial properties.
Duties and site procedures will vary depending on the assignment. Officers must be prepared to travel to designated locations throughout the service area and adapt to different property-security requirements as coverage needs change.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Your work will focus on protecting property, maintaining controlled access, identifying potential risks, and documenting important events.

• Prevent unauthorized activity: Maintain a noticeable security presence to help discourage shoplifting, vandalism, property damage, and unauthorized entry after business hours.

• Inspect buildings and grounds: Perform routine patrols and verify that designated doors, entrances, and access points are properly secured.

• Enforce access procedures: Monitor controlled entry areas and check identification or credentials when required by the assigned site's policies.

• Assist people on the property: Provide clear directions and courteous assistance to shoppers, tenants, employees, and other authorized visitors.

• Respond appropriately to incidents: Remain composed during disturbances or emergencies and follow the established response procedures for the location.

• Observe surveillance systems: Monitor available camera feeds, identify unusual activity, and report concerns to the appropriate personnel.

• Complete required documentation: Maintain accurate daily activity logs and submit thorough incident reports within the required timeframes.

Qualifications for the Position

We are seeking candidates who demonstrate accountability, punctuality, and the ability to remain attentive while working independently or alongside a site team.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Possess a Maryland security guard certification or be eligible to obtain the required certification through the company's licensed agency, with processing through the Maryland State Police as applicable.

• Meet Maryland's minimum age and eligibility requirements for licensed security personnel.

• Successfully pass the required criminal background check.

• Have reliable transportation to reach assigned posts throughout Hagerstown and the surrounding Washington County area.

• Arrive for scheduled shifts on time, properly uniformed, and professionally presented.

• Be able to remain on their feet and move throughout the assigned site for the duration of a shift.

Previous security experience is preferred, but it is not mandatory. Qualified candidates without prior security employment will also be considered.

Licensing assistance: The company sponsors and processes the applicable certification through its licensed agency. Candidates must still meet all eligibility, screening, and credentialing requirements before beginning an assignment, as required by law.

Uniform and Equipment Policy

Officers are responsible for supplying their own professional Class A black uniform and maintaining it in clean, presentable condition.

The company provides radios and other required communication equipment according to the needs of the assigned post. Officers must follow all applicable uniform, equipment, and site-specific instructions.

Shift Availability

Coverage requirements may include:

• Day shifts

• Evening shifts

• Overnight assignments

• Weekend shifts

• Holiday coverage

Flexibility across different shift types is an advantage. Actual schedules depend on client requirements and available assignments throughout the Hagerstown region.
