Position Summary

The Preventative Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing scheduled preventative maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role supports production uptime by inspecting equipment, identifying potential issues before failures occur, completing repairs, and maintaining accurate maintenance records.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, detail-oriented, and experienced working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) tasks on manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facility systems.

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.

• Complete lubrication, adjustments, calibration checks, belt changes, filter replacements, and equipment inspections.

• Identify potential equipment failures and communicate corrective actions to maintenance leadership.

• Respond to equipment breakdowns and support troubleshooting efforts as required.

• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and PM documentation within the CMMS system.

• Assist with installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and uptime.

• Ensure all maintenance work is completed in compliance with safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and company policies.

• Maintain clean and organized maintenance work areas, tools, and parts inventory.

• Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.

• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to equipment failures.

• Support facility maintenance activities as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Technical diploma, apprenticeship, or trade certification preferred.

• 2+ years of preventative maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.

• Experience with conveyors, robotics, CNC equipment, packaging equipment, or automated machinery is an asset.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude with basic electrical troubleshooting ability.

• Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and predictive maintenance concepts.

• Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.

• Familiarity with CMMS software and maintenance documentation.

• Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems.

• Working knowledge of industrial safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.

• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.

• Ability to work overtime, weekends, or rotating shifts as required.
