As our North American business continues to grow, we're looking for Commissioning Engineers (Level I & II) to join our Service team and support the successful commissioning of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the United States.

Key Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Prepare and review commissioning packages during the planning and pre-commissioning phases to ensure project readiness.
  • \n

  • Track commissioning progress against project schedules, identify risks, and support recovery plans when needed.
  • \n

  • Execute commissioning activities in accordance with approved commissioning plans, company standards, and safety procedures.
  • \n

  • Coordinate on-site commissioning activities with EPC contractors, project teams, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • \n

  • Perform commissioning and startup activities for utility-scale BESS projects, including Energy Station startup and complete system validation.
  • \n

  • Conduct commissioning tests, including:
  • \n

  • Electrical verification
  • \n

  • Communication validation
  • \n

  • Controls verification
  • \n

  • Charge and discharge testing
  • \n

  • Verify installation completeness and confirm system readiness before commissioning.
  • \n

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving:
  • \n

  • Power Conversion Systems (PCS)
  • \n

  • Battery Systems
  • \n

  • Controls
  • \n

  • Communication Networks
  • \n

  • Auxiliary Systems
  • \n

  • Support interface testing with SCADA, EMS, and utility grid interconnection systems.
  • \n

  • Document commissioning results, punch list items, non-conformances, and commissioning reports.
  • \n

  • Support final system handover to Operations by ensuring all commissioning documentation is complete.
  • \n

  • Maintain full compliance with OSHA requirements, site safety plans, and HyperStrong safety policies.
  • \n

Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent field experience.
  • \n

  • Commissioning Engineer I: Typically 1–3 years of relevant commissioning or field engineering experience.
  • \n

  • Commissioning Engineer II: Typically 4+ years of utility-scale commissioning experience with the ability to independently lead commissioning activities.
  • \n

  • Working knowledge of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and power conversion equipment.
  • \n

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and control drawings.
  • \n

  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving electrical, controls, and communication systems.
  • \n

  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and applicable electrical safety standards.
  • \n

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • \n

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience commissioning utility-scale lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage Systems.
  • \n

  • Experience working for a BESS OEM, system integrator, or EPC contractor.
  • \n

  • Experience with:

  • Grid Compliance Testing
  • \n

  • Hands-on experience with PCS, SCADA, EMS, and utility-scale system commissioning.
