Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down Unit position requiring a CA RN license and ACLS certification for night shift coverage.

Details\n

    \n
  • Work in the Step Down Unit (SDU/PCU/SCU) of an acute care hospital
  • \n

  • Care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring, including those post coronary intervention, pacemaker, and AICD placement
  • \n

  • Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • \n

  • Float to Medical-Surgical unit as needed
  • \n

Requirements\n

    \n
  • Active CA RN license required
  • \n

  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required from an approved vendor
  • \n

  • NIHSS certification required within 6 months of hire
  • \n

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • \n

  • 6 months of cardiac step-down or telemetry experience within the last 2 years preferred
  • \n

  • Completion of Basic Dysrhythmia Course and Critical Care Course preferred
  • \n

  • Skilled in accurate ECG rhythm interpretation and managing life-threatening cardiac emergencies
  • \n

  • Competent in medication administration, IV therapy including blood products, and care of indwelling catheters and drains
  • \n

  • Knowledge of femoral sheath removal using Femostop Device
  • \n

Additional Information\n

  • Provide nursing care planning and delivery for step down unit patients
  • \n

  • Supervise and delegate care responsibilities to ancillary personnel per their scope of practice
  • \n

  • Verify alarm settings with Monitor Technician per policy
  • \n

  • Demonstrate knowledge of lead functions and application, recommending optimal monitoring based on patient presentation
  • \n

  • Candidates with more than 5 days of requested time off will be automatically declined
  • \n

  • Candidates with a prior disciplinary action on their license will not be considered
  • \n

  • No radius restriction, and local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • \n
