Position Summary
The Maintenance Parts Specialist is responsible for managing the inventory, purchasing, organization, and distribution of maintenance spare parts and supplies to support manufacturing and warehouse operations. This role ensures critical replacement parts are available to minimize equipment downtime while maintaining accurate inventory records and controlling costs.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Manage inventory of maintenance spare parts, tools, and consumable supplies.
- Receive, inspect, label, and organize incoming maintenance materials.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management software or ERP systems.
- Monitor stock levels and reorder parts to prevent shortages.
- Coordinate with vendors to source replacement parts, obtain pricing, and track purchase orders.
- Work closely with the Maintenance team to identify critical spare parts needed for production equipment.
- Issue parts to maintenance technicians and accurately document inventory transactions.
- Perform routine cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
- Research and identify equivalent replacement parts when original components are unavailable.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe parts storage area.
- Assist in developing preventive maintenance inventory strategies.
- Track equipment warranties and vendor information.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve inventory accuracy.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in maintenance storeroom, inventory control, warehouse operations, or industrial purchasing preferred.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
- Experience with CMMS, ERP, or inventory management systems is preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing or warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts (certification preferred).
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting industrial manufacturing or automated production equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs.
- Strong attention to detail and inventory accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and warehouse facility.
- Monday through Friday, with overtime or weekends as needed to support production.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection when required.
