We are hiring for an accountant position with a banking partner of ours! This is a great opportunity. The company is seeking an accountant who has call reporting experience.
Location & Schedule
- Based on-site in the northern Chicago suburbs, five days per week in office.
Role Summary
- A community-focused financial institution serving small businesses nationwide seeks a seasoned accounting professional for its finance team.
- Reports to the Corporate Controller.
- Helps safeguard the accuracy and integrity of the bank's financial records.
- Supports timely, reliable reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Partners with the Controller and executive leadership on budgeting and ad hoc financial analysis initiatives.
Core Responsibilities — Accounting Operations
- Records journal entries in line with GAAP and internal policy.
- Helps drive the monthly and quarterly close process to deadline.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts across the bank's core system and the holding company's books.
- Investigates variances alongside deposit and lending operations partners to resolve discrepancies.
- Manages accounts payable and employee expense reimbursements.
Core Responsibilities — Reporting & Analysis
- Prepares and reviews monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for leadership and the board.
- Confirms all figures are accurate and regulatory-compliant.
- Handles periodic filings, including the quarterly call report and other holding-company submissions.
Core Responsibilities — Audit & Tax Support
- Assembles audit schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external auditors.
- Assists the Controller in coordinating with outside auditors and tax advisors.
Core Responsibilities — Internal Controls
- Upholds existing control procedures that protect company assets.
Qualifications
- At least three years of progressive accounting experience, including time at a small or mid-sized community financial institution.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
- Strong command of GAAP and regulatory reporting, including call reports.
- Hands-on familiarity with general ledger and financial reporting platforms.
- Comfortable operating as an individual contributor, moving fluidly between strategy and execution.
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving instincts.
- Advanced Excel and data-analysis capability.
- Sound judgment and clear communication across all levels of the organization.
- Familiarity with core banking platforms, call-reporting software, and systems such as QuickBooks is a plus.
Compensation & Perks
- Base pay: $85,000–$105,000 annually.
