Job Description

Job Description

About Us Our firm s a growing estate planning and probate practice serving clients across Texas. We handle wills, trusts, powers of attorney, deed preparation, and probate administration. We're a small, professional team that takes client relationships seriously — and we need someone who does too.

The Role We're looking for an experienced legal assistant to support the attorney across active client matters. You'll handle document preparation, deadline tracking, court and clerk correspondence, and client follow-through across a high-volume estate planning and probate practice. The ideal candidate brings real Texas law firm experience and works confidently under attorney supervision.

The position is primarily in-office in Kaufman County and Dallas, with some flexibility as the role develops. We are looking for a long-term hire — not someone who's just filling a seat.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare legal documents and filings from existing templates and attorney direction
  • Manage active matter calendars, deadlines, and follow-through across multiple files
  • Coordinate filings and correspondence with Texas county clerks, courts, title companies, and opposing counsel
  • Maintain organized digital and physical matter files with strict confidentiality
  • Support new matter intake — engagement letters, conflict checks, file setup
  • Communicate professionally with clients on logistics, scheduling, and status updates
  • Assist with billing entry and invoice preparation
  • Track outstanding items and ensure nothing falls through across all open matters

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a law firm or comparable professional setting required
  • Familiarity with estate planning, probate, or trusts and estates strongly preferred
  • Experience with Texas court filings and county-level recordings a significant plus
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with legal practice management or billing software a plus
  • Discreet, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a small team
  • Polished written and verbal communication

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • A positive, professional work environment where your contributions are noticed
  • Long-term opportunity to grow with a board-certified attorney in a focused practice area
