Season: February 10, 2026 to December 4, 2026
Pay: $19.82 per hour
Estimated Schedule: Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week. Estimated schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with possible changes based on seasonal needs.

Bailey Nurseries is seeking production workers. This position is for individuals with experience related to plant production, application of fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides, use of agricultural or nursery equipment, and maintaining a safe work environment production areas.

The person hired will support plant production activities, including wholesale nursery handling both manual and machine tasks associated with nursery production and harvest activities.

Primary Responsibilities
The person hired will be responsible for supporting nursery production. Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist supervisors in directing assigned tasks and instructing workers in planting, cultivating, harvesting techniques, grading, labeling, packing, and loading activities. May serve as lead worker in
  • small crews.
  • Recognize species and varieties of nursery stock and the ability to determine grades and quantities for selecting trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals.
  • Dig bare root nursery plants and seedlings wash plants, sort, store plants in the warehouse or sawdust heeling beds.
  • Store seedlings, bandsaw cutting, pull orders, load trucks & trailers, grade, bundle, tag,
  • Assemble/dismantle warehouse racks, crates and bins, scion wood collection and processing, and shipping.
  • Boxing and palletization of plants, load and unload flats and or trucks/trailers for shipping.
  • Place and remove row cover, collect and stick cuttings (field/greenhouse), collect and clean seeds, stick hardwoods and sowing seeds in trays/field, dip, cut roots/limbs (process in preparation to plant), process
  • cuttings, layer bed planting, weaving and packing, push and pull stakes in field/pots, de-pot, straighten
  • stakes via machine, hand & machine tie, color code.
  • Maintenance during spring/summer months: prune, limb, trim, sprout, weed, plant straighten, hoe, top, place and remove grow tubes, plant, graft, bud, wrap, band removal, maintain and sharpen hand tools.
  • Assist with irrigation activities based on water needs and climate conditions.
  • Operate irrigation equipment and monitor crops' water needs to ensure application of correct amount of water.
  • Weed removal by hand or spray.
  • Maneuver up to 60 lbs.
  • Perform other general nursery duties as needed.

Important Requirements
To be considered for this position, the candidate must meet ALL of the following requirements:

  • Have at least 3 months of work experience in the activities described in this job posting.
  • Be able to speak, read, and write English fluently. Required.
  • Meet applicable driving requirements, as the job may require driving pickups, tractors, machinery, or self-propelled equipment.
  • Be able to pass a background check.
  • Be able to lift up to 60 pounds when needed.
  • Be willing to work outdoors and in extreme weather conditions.
  • Be able to perform activities that require extensive pushing or pulling.
  • Be able to sit, walk, or move around for extended periods.
  • Be able to stoop or bend frequently.
  • Be able to perform repetitive movements during the workday.
  • Be able to maintain accurate records in accordance with applicable ODA and OSHA laws.
  • Be available to work for the entire season.

Additional Information
Housing and transportation and is provided by the employer for non-local workers who qualify under the H-2A program.
