Job Title: Systems Administrator – Windows/Active Directory – NASA Goddard Space Flight Center


Location: On-site at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), Greenbelt, MD. This is a facility-specific, on-site role — remote work is not available.


Clearance: Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance or higher.


Position: Full-time with Excellent Benefits


Salary – 100-110K


Education and Experience Requirements: BS Computer Science or Equitant + 6 Years

Altech Solutions LLC is a federal IT services company supporting NASA's AEGIS contract as a Leidos subcontractor, providing cyber, field support, and data analytics capabilities across 6 of NASA's 10 centers.

About the Role

We're hiring a Mid-level Systems Administrator to join AEGIS Enterprise Software Support at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. You'll lead systems administration across Microsoft Systems and Active Directory, design integrated hardware/software solutions, and manage end-user endpoint infrastructure supporting critical NASA IT and aerospace operations.


What You'll Do

• Ensure day-to-day operation and support of servers and systems, including event, fault, and performance management

• Install, monitor, and troubleshoot operating systems, hardware, and computer infrastructure

• Identify gaps in systems and apply analytical and problem-solving methodologies to resolve them

• Design a reliable, scalable, secure, and highly available Linux, Windows, and virtual environment

• Lead application teams on continuous software enhancements, patch management, and deployments across development environments

• Collaborate with systems administrators, database and application administrators, network engineers, customers, and outside vendors to engineer solutions and resolve problems

• Define system test procedures and task success criteria

• Maintain technical architecture diagrams, system build documentation, and application update records

• Ensure data/media recoverability through scheduled system backups and database archive operations

• Conduct routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers for standards and policy compliance

• Maintain a comprehensive operating system hardware/software configuration database and supporting documentation


Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field

• 6+ years of professional systems administration, application deployment, or IT infrastructure experience

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft systems administration, including PowerShell command-line and environment tracking

• Working familiarity with Linux/UNIX, VMware, or OpenShift system administration

• U.S. citizenship (required for this federal contract)

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance or higher

• Able to work on-site at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (Greenbelt, MD)


Preferred Qualifications

• Active industry certifications (e.g., Red Hat, CompTIA Security+)

• Direct experience supporting government, aerospace, or real-time NASA mission-critical environments

• Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines, automated infrastructure tools, and Agile frameworks

• Experience with Microsoft Systems/Windows foundations, storage arrays (Nexsan, Dell Unity), VMware, iDRAC (IPMI), and RHEL/Linux

• Ability to produce and maintain PowerShell scripts

• UNIX environment experience for automation and data migration between systems

• Knowledge of Cisco Software Defined Networking technologies
