Salary Range: $72,000 - $85,000
Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations of the organization while building the financial infrastructure necessary to support rapid growth. This role will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, manage budgeting and forecasting processes, and provide leadership with actionable financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Controller will help guide the company through its next phase of growth by improving financial processes, strengthening reporting capabilities, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
This position is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys building scalable systems and processes within a fast-growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Provide financial leadership and guidance to the executive team.
- Develop and maintain financial reporting systems that provide timely, accurate insights into company performance.
- Support strategic planning through financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities and recommend strategies to support sustainable growth.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and present financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain integrity of financial data and accounting systems.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting.
- Monitor financial performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
- Partner with department leaders to manage spending and improve financial discipline.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls and financial policies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Coordinate audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting.
- Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, and financial advisors.
Cash Flow & Financial Operations
- Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and financial liquidity.
- Develop strategies to improve financial efficiency and operational margins.
- Oversee banking relationships and financial transactions.
Systems & Process Development
- Evaluate and implement financial systems that support scalability and growth.
- Improve accounting workflows and financial reporting processes.
- Ensure financial data supports operational decision-making across the company.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the accounting and finance team.
- Establish performance expectations, training, and professional development.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience managing accounting systems and financial reporting processes
Preferred
- CPA or CMA certification
- Experience in a growing small-to-mid-sized company
- Experience implementing or upgrading financial systems (ERP, accounting software)
- Experience preparing financials for investors, lenders, or board reporting
