SUMMARY
The SDSU Field Experience Intern participates in an unpaid, supervised educational experience at Active Generations. The placement provides students with an opportunity to apply classroom learning, gain practical experience, and learn more about programs and services supporting older adults and the community.
Specific responsibilities, schedules, and learning objectives will vary based on the student's academic program and assigned placement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Observe and participate in assigned programs and departmental activities.

Assist with program activities, participant engagement, outreach, special projects, or administrative tasks.

Interact professionally with participants, members, volunteers, employees, caregivers, and community partners.

Complete activities and assignments associated with established field experience learning objectives.

Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.

Follow Active Generations policies, procedures, safety expectations, and supervisor direction.

Communicate regularly with the assigned supervisor and accept feedback throughout the placement.
QUALIFICATIONS

Current SDSU student completing an approved field experience or similar experiential learning requirement.

Professional, dependable, and willing to learn.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and work respectfully with older adults and individuals of varying backgrounds and abilities.
FIELD EXPERIENCE EXPECTATIONS
The student's schedule, required hours, learning objectives, and placement duration will be established in coordination with SDSU and Active Generations. Depending on the placement, students may be required to complete orientation, confidentiality training, background screening, or other program-specific requirements.
This is an unpaid educational field experience. Participation does not create an employment relationship or guarantee future employment with Active Generations.
