About the Position\n
A dynamic law office in Indio specializing in criminal defense, immigration, and post-conviction relief is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Law Clerk or Experienced Paralegal to join our team on-site. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal writing and analytical capabilities, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to client advocacy.
Key Responsibilities\n

- Legal Research & Writing: Conduct comprehensive statutory, case law, and procedural research; draft persuasive legal briefs, motions, petitions, and sentencing memorandums.
- Case Analysis & Preparation: Analyze police reports, trial transcripts, discovery documents, and immigration records to identify key legal issues and defense strategies.
- Document Drafting: Prepare court pleadings, declarations, immigration forms/packets (e.g., affirmative/defensive filings, U-visas, waivers, adjustment of status), and post-conviction relief petitions.
- Case Management: Maintain and manage active case files from intake through resolution; track deadlines, court dates, and filing requirements.
- Client Communication: Conduct client interviews, intakes, and consultations; provide regular case updates in both English and Spanish.
- Court & Administrative Coordination: Prepare exhibits, coordinate filings with state/federal courts and immigration agencies (USCIS/EOIR), and liaise with court clerks, prosecutors, and opposing counsel.

Qualifications & Requirements\n

- Education & Experience:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree, OR
- Minimum of 5 years of substantive paralegal experience in criminal defense, immigration law, or post-conviction relief.
- Language Skills: Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (verbal and written) is required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with legal research platforms (Westlaw/LexisNexis), case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Core Competencies: Strong analytical and drafting abilities, keen attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to handle sensitive client matters with discretion and empathy.
- Work Arrangement: Must be able to work in-person at our office in Indio, CA.
