Direct Counsel is seeking a Senior Knowledge Management Attorney – Private Funds with 10–15 years of relevant experience to join a leading global law firm and its highly regarded Private Funds practice.

Position Overview
This is a unique opportunity for a senior private funds attorney with substantial asset management experience to play a leading role in developing and implementing knowledge management strategy for a sophisticated Private Funds practice. The ideal candidate will have experience with both sponsor-side fund formation and institutional investor representation, along with demonstrated knowledge management experience involving forms, precedents, and practice resources.
The role will be primarily focused on knowledge management and practice innovation, with selected client-facing legal work expected to comprise no more than approximately 25% of the attorney's time.
Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of the Private Funds group's knowledge management strategy in collaboration with practice leadership and the broader knowledge management team.

Identify, evaluate, and implement tools, processes, and solutions that support the group's strategic objectives.

Monitor private funds market developments and trends and translate them into updates to knowledge management resources, tools, and workflows.

Identify and prioritize client deliverables, practice resources, and other materials that should be developed, revised, or enhanced.

Oversee the development and maintenance of forms, checklists, precedents, and other knowledge resources.

Ensure knowledge resources remain current with legal, regulatory, and market developments.

Represent the Private Funds practice on firmwide knowledge management task forces and working groups.

Coordinate knowledge management initiatives across related asset management practices and other practice groups.

Develop and enhance training programs for attorneys, paralegals, and professional staff on knowledge resources, precedent and forms libraries, and related systems.

Identify, evaluate, and recommend third-party legal and market resources that complement the practice's knowledge management strategy.

Help drive consensus among attorneys and professional staff regarding knowledge management priorities and solutions.

Manage selected client-facing legal work and deliverables related to private funds matters.
Qualifications

10–15 years of relevant private funds/asset management experience, including experience with both sponsor-side fund formation and institutional investor representation.

Experience working in a large law firm required; a minimum of 5 years at a large law firm preferred.

Comparable in-house experience may be considered.

Demonstrated knowledge management experience, including working with forms, precedent documents, and other practice resources.

J.D. from an accredited law school.

Admission in good standing to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

Strong knowledge of private funds and asset management matters.

Excellent writing and research skills, including familiarity with partnership agreements and other fundraising agreements.

Strong organizational, project management, and systematizing skills.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility with attorneys and professional staff across offices.

Ability to analyze competing approaches, facilitate consensus, and guide teams toward implementation of agreed-upon solutions.

Comfort working with internet and intranet technologies, as well as data analysis and management tools.

Demonstrated interest in innovation, continuous improvement, and leveraging technology to improve legal service delivery.
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position is $250,000–$375,000 annually, depending on qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for a discretionary year-end bonus.
