Our client, a growing law firm, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation, with experience in personal injury, construction litigation, commercial litigation, or general civil matters highly preferred.
This position is ideal for an attorney who is comfortable managing cases independently, communicating directly with clients, handling discovery and depositions, and assisting with matters through settlement or trial. The Associate Attorney will work closely with partners, paralegals, and support staff while having the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of their caseload.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse caseload of civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and develop effective case strategies.
- Handle written discovery, document production, and case investigation.
- Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, corporate representatives, and experts.
- Attend and represent clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and court appearances.
- Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit management, trial notebooks, and development of trial strategy.
- Negotiate settlements and effectively advocate for clients throughout the litigation process.
- Review and analyze contracts, medical records, construction documents, expert reports, insurance documentation, and other case-related materials.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and provide practical legal guidance regarding case strategy, risks, and potential outcomes.
- Collaborate with partners, paralegals, and legal support staff to ensure cases are handled efficiently and deadlines are met.
- Maintain accurate case files, calendars, and litigation deadlines.
- Stay current on applicable statutes, case law, court rules, and procedural developments.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active and in-good-standing membership with the applicable State Bar.
- 3+ years of litigation experience preferred.
