St. Francis Center (SFC), an institution of the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado, wasestablishedin June 1983. SFC is a refuge forpersonswho are experiencing homelessness in the metro Denver area. Our programs and services are tailored toward adults and focus on daytime shelter, social services, health and wellness, housing, employment, and outreach. At SFC, guests can work with a variety of specialists, depending on their individual needs, which is often the first step toward transformation and ultimately self-sufficiency.
We are currently looking for a Street Outreach Worker.This is a Full-Time, non-exempt positionwith some evening andweekend shiftsrequired and is eligible for an excellent benefitspackage as outlined below.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This position will work as part ofa closely engagedteam within the Saint FrancisCenter Outreach Department. This position is part ofthe Denver Street Outreach Collaborative (DSOC), which consists of outreach staff from Saint Francis Center and Colorado Coalition for the Homeless,in direct collaboration and partnership with the City and County of Denver.
Job Responsibilities:
- Engage and develop rapport with our unsheltered community members in Denver County by inviting them into services and using trauma-informed practices, motivational interviewing, and person-centered methods.
- This position mayrequire a response to City-directed outreach requests.
- This position may include opportunities to providezone-basedhousing-focused case management support to acaseload of unsheltered community members.
- Collaborateand coordinate supportive services within SFC, the larger DSOC teams, and from other organizations,including within the City and County of Denver.
- Participate in shared activities and responsibilities with the greater SFC Outreach team
- As an extension of DSOC, regular coordination and participation in DSOC meetings, trainings, and activities will be expected, to include: the citys emergencycold weathernight-outreach activation plan
- Recordtimelyand thorough documentation of allengagement efforts andservices provided
- This positionmay require extensive walking/covering distances, carrying supplies for outreach activities, and working outdoors in locations with varying terrain across Denver in all weather conditions. People selected for this position must be able to fulfill the requirements and work locations of the position.
- This positions scope and function are subject to change and include other duties as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in human services, social work, psychology,international relations, or other related field preferred or equivalent, related professional experience.
- 1+ years of street outreach and/or case management experience, preferably with individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Required: Valid Drivers License and willingness/ability todrive as part of work duties.
- Strong teamplayer withgood collaborative and communication skills.
- Ability to manage conflict, mitigate/respond to stressfulsituations, and engage traumatic stories.
- Understanding ofand experience with addressing the impact of trauma, chronic medical conditions, behavioral healthchallenges,and physical disabilities.
- Ability to understand andmaintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality.
- Exudes professionalism and has the abilityto listen with care, treat community members and collaborative partners with respect and dignity, and respond toeach individuals unique needs.
- Willingness toparticipatein SFC agency responsibilities, meetings/retreats, and other trainings.
- Willingness and ability to work with people from a variety of racial, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds with various lifestyles, sexual orientations, and of all ages and genders.
- Required:Computerskills andtechnicalproficiencyinMicrosoft applications (TEAMS,Word, Outlook, Excel,etc.)and indocumentation applications (i.e.,HMIS, Salesforce)
- Knowledge inTrauma Informed Practices, de-escalation,Mental Health First Aid, and willing tomaintainprofessional training standardsin the above requirements and qualifications.
Compensation and Benefits:
$21.00 $26.00/hour or DOE
This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with some evening and occasional weekend hours expected.
