Technical Project Manager (TPM)

Position Overview

\n

    \n
  • Manage and ensure the timely completion of discrete technical or operational projects.
  • \n

  • Establish technical requirements for projects.
  • \n

  • Define project deliverables, budgets, and schedules.
  • \n

  • Oversee project teams in the planning, tracking, and execution of projects from initiation to completion.
  • \n

  • Support projects consisting of related activities associated with the Line-Item Projects Project Controls program.
  • \n

  • Produce specific products or provide services to meet customer requirements.
  • \n

  • Develop or maintain processes to meet specific programmatic needs and produce work products defined by the hiring manager.
  • \n

  • Perform cost analysis/control and planning and scheduling activities for projects or programs with significant non-routine requirements, or for discipline/projects/programs/proposal cost and planning activities requiring a high degree of technical skilled experience.
  • \n

  • Identify, analyze, and provide innovative solutions for cost and schedule guidance to projects and programs.
  • \n

  • Ensure work is completed as scheduled.
  • \n

  • Identify cost trends requiring management attention.
  • \n

  • Support customers that may include external bodies, such as a federal agency, or internal organizations within the Laboratory.
  • \n

Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Support project scheduling using Primavera P6, including:
  • \n

  • Data quality checks.
  • \n

  • Integration tasks.
  • \n

  • Schedule analysis.
  • \n

  • Support project cost management using Cobra and EVMS processes.
  • \n

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across technical and business domains to align solutions with project objectives.
  • \n

Additional Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • \n

  • Demonstrated initiative and independence, with the ability to take a concept from idea to delivered product without heavy direction.
  • \n

  • Strong communication skills across both technical and business contexts.
  • \n

  • Experience in project controls within DOE/NNSA.
  • \n

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous-improvement mindset.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of LANL Project Controls procedures, policies, and processes is highly desirable.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of DOE O 413.3B EVMS requirements is highly desirable.
  • \n

Education & Experience

\n

    \n
  • Position typically requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • \n
