Structural Steel General Foreman -- Heavy Industrial
Job Description
Job DescriptionCompensation
Pay: $29.21 – $35.18 per hour
A Day in the Life
Sunrise brings a crew huddle and a safety talk. You walk the site, confirm rigging plans, and open ProCore to align today’s work plan with the master schedule built in Primavera P6. Blueprints and shop drawings are on your tablet (Bluebeam at the ready). You assign lifts, verify bolt-up sequences, and coordinate with the project manager, engineer, and subcontractors. By mid-morning, you’re inspecting connections for quality, logging progress in Prolog, and coaching a lead on safer hoisting practices to keep OSHA standards front and center. After lunch, a crane window opens—you sequence picks, verify signaling, and keep the team moving. Before shift’s end, you reconcile quantities, update documentation, and set tomorrow’s plan.
What You’ll Lead
- Supervise ironworking crews on large industrial jobsites to install, maintain, and repair structural steel/iron components safely and efficiently.
- Interpret construction drawings and technical plans; translate structural requirements into executable field activities.
- Develop daily/weekly work plans, assign tasks, track progress, and drive schedule adherence.
- Champion safety—ensure strict compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety protocols; foster a safety-first culture.
- Own quality control: verify alignment with blueprints, technical details, and inspection criteria throughout installation.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors using tools such as ProCore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and Prolog for scheduling, documentation, and coordination.
- Coach, train, and evaluate crew performance while building a high-performing team.
What You Bring
- Proven leadership supervising ironworkers or steel erection crews on industrial or commercial construction projects.
- Hands-on fluency with construction tech: ProCore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Primavera P3 or P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (EPPM), HeavyBid (or similar estimating platforms), and Contracts Management Software/Prolog.
- Expertise reading complex blueprints and technical drawings with precision.
- Deep understanding of construction scheduling principles and the tools to execute them effectively.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and established construction safety management practices.
- Experience overseeing budgets, contracts, and project records through systems like Contracts Management Software or Prolog.
- Strong on-site supervision and communication skills; able to motivate crews while rigorously enforcing safety.
- Nice to have: familiarity with pipeline installation processes and the ability to use ohmmeters for electrical testing when required.
- Required: valid OSHA certification and relevant construction safety management credentials; preferred: heavy rigging or specialized steel erection certifications.
Why This Role Matters
Your leadership keeps complex industrial steel packages on time, on budget, and—most importantly—safe. If you thrive in the field and take pride in building high-performing teams, we want to hear from you.
