Job DescriptionPosition: Sleep Clinician

Our organization is inviting applications for academic roles within the Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep, and Allergy Section at the San Francisco VA Health Care System. We are looking for an exceptional clinician with expertise in Sleep Medicine to engage in clinical and educational activities primarily within our outpatient clinics, as well as to assist in managing a newly established polysomnography sleep lab.

The San Francisco VA Health Care System offers medical services to Veterans through the San Francisco VA Medical Center and several community-based outpatient clinics. Our Sleep Medicine program has recently expanded, introducing a new overnight sleep lab that commenced operations in Fall 2025, creating an exciting opportunity to enhance Sleep care. Key responsibilities will involve staffing the outpatient Sleep Clinics and supporting the operations of the sleep lab. Candidates should demonstrate clinical excellence and possess a strong inclination towards scholarly activities in both clinical and educational settings that align with the goals of the Division, our organization, and the VA Health Care System.

The starting salary ranges from $295,000 to $350,000, depending on experience.

Work hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

The selected candidate will receive an academic appointment at our organization in either the HS Clinical or Clinical X series, with a rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) that reflects their experience. They will report directly to the Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep, and Allergy at the VA Health Care System. Applicants must possess an MD or equivalent degree, hold a current medical license, and be board-certified or eligible in Sleep Medicine. While board certification in Pulmonary and/or Critical Care Medicine is preferred, it is not mandatory.
