Direct Counsel is seeking a Business Restructuring & Reorganization Associate Attorney with 3–6 years of experience to join a leading global law firm and its highly regarded Business Restructuring & Reorganization practice.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience handling Chapter 11 bankruptcies and corporate restructuringsat a leading law firm. Candidates with broad bankruptcy and restructuring experience representing debtors, creditors, creditors' committees, and third-party purchasers are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Represent corporate debtors, creditors' committees, individual creditors, and third-party purchasers in Chapter 11 bankruptcy and restructuring matters.
  • Advise clients throughout all stages of corporate bankruptcy and restructuring proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis concerning complex bankruptcy and restructuring issues.
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, agreements, and other restructuring-related documents.
  • Assist with case strategy and day-to-day management of bankruptcy and restructuring matters.
  • Manage client relationships and address the ongoing legal and workflow needs of clients at various stages of restructuring matters.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across practice groups to develop comprehensive solutions for clients.
  • Manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys while taking increasing responsibility for client matters.

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of experience handling Chapter 11 bankruptcies and corporate restructurings at a leading law firm.
  • General bankruptcy and restructuring experience representing:
    • Corporate debtors
    • Creditors' committees
    • Individual creditors
    • Third-party purchasers
  • Experience working in a corporate restructuring or bankruptcy practice at a comparable law firm is preferred.
  • Judicial clerkship experience, particularly with a bankruptcy judge, is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and day-to-day matter workflows.
  • Strong academic credentials from a nationally recognized law school.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York Bar, or eligibility for admission, required.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $260,000–$390,000 annually, depending on applicable experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
