Position Summary
The Warehouse Operations Specialist plays an important role in supporting the daily flow of products through our warehouse. This position is responsible for receiving incoming shipments, verifying product accuracy, maintaining inventory, replenishing pick locations, preparing outgoing shipments, and ensuring products are properly stored and handled.
This is a hands-on position that requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled food distribution environment. The Warehouse Operations Specialist will also operate forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe warehouse.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, inspect, and verify incoming products against purchase orders and shipping documentation.
- Accurately enter and process incoming and outgoing shipments in the warehouse management system.
- Count, sort, label, organize, and properly store products.
- Prepare and stage customer orders for accurate and timely shipment.
- Replenish warehouse pick locations as needed to support daily order fulfillment.
- Assist with inventory counts, product rotation, and inventory accuracy.
- Safely operate forklifts, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
- Maintain proper product storage and organization within cooler, freezer, and warehouse areas.
- Assist with loading and unloading delivery trucks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow company food safety, warehouse, and workplace safety procedures.
- Identify and communicate inventory discrepancies, damaged products, or receiving/shipping issues.
- Perform light building and equipment maintenance as needed.
- Collaborate with warehouse, production, shipping, receiving, and other departments to support daily operations.
- Perform additional duties and assignments as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, or distribution experience required.
- Experience in foodservice, food processing, or refrigerated distribution preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience operating a forklift/reach truck required.
- Experience with electric pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment is preferred.
- Experience entering, receiving, and processing shipments using a warehouse or inventory management system.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn warehouse software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow established procedures and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assignments within established timelines.
- Ability to regularly work in refrigerated cooler and freezer environments.
- Ability to lift and move products weighing up to 80 lbs.
- Dependable and able to consistently work the required schedule, including extended hours and overtime during peak season.
