Duration: 12 Months Contract – Potential Conversion

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite

Pay Rate: $37/hour

\n

Position Overview

\n

Our client’s Beltsville aerospace facility is seeking a Continuous Improvement (CI) Coordinator to support Operational Excellence (OPEX) initiatives within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This position offers hands-on experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles, improving production processes, analyzing operational data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The successful candidate will support continuous improvement activities, including Kaizen action items, shop-floor productivity improvements, Lean Manufacturing implementation, basic problem-solving, data collection, and statistical process control.

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Partner with the CI Manager, Operations, Quality, and other cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • \n

  • Support and follow up on action items identified during Kaizen and Lean events.
  • \n

  • Implement Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies to improve shop-floor productivity.
  • \n

  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve workflow, and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • \n

  • Conduct basic problem-solving and root-cause analysis activities.
  • \n

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret manufacturing and inspection data.
  • \n

  • Develop and maintain statistical process control charts and performance reports.
  • \n

  • Support time studies, work measurement, line balancing, capacity analysis, and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • \n

  • Learn and implement new manufacturing technologies and process improvements.
  • \n

  • Reinforce training and standard work developed through Kaizen events.
  • \n

  • Track project progress, deliverables, and continuous improvement KPIs.
  • \n

  • Collaborate with production teams to implement sustainable process changes.
  • \n

  • Support improvements in safety, quality, throughput, cost, and delivery performance.
  • \n

Required Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; degree completed or currently in progress from an accredited institution.
  • \n

  • Industrial Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • \n

  • Strong Lean Manufacturing experience is required.
  • \n

  • Hands-on AutoCAD experience is required.
  • \n

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • \n

  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and Lean tools.
  • \n

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • \n

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • \n

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence process improvements.
  • \n

Preferred Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Experience in high-volume, discrete manufacturing environments.
  • \n

  • Automotive Lean Manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
  • \n

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience is also highly relevant.
  • \n

  • Six Sigma experience and knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • \n

  • Experience with Power BI and data visualization.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of time studies, work measurement, line balancing, and capacity analysis.
  • \n

  • Familiarity with facility layout and manufacturing layout software.
  • \n

  • Experience with OEE, productivity improvement, cost reduction, scrap/rework reduction, and throughput optimization.
  • \n

  • Recent graduates may be considered with relevant Lean Manufacturing experience gained through academic projects, internships, or post-graduate work.
  • \n

Ideal Candidate

\n

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, analytical Continuous Improvement or Industrial Engineering professional who can work directly with manufacturing teams to identify inefficiencies and implement sustainable improvements. Candidates with strong Lean Manufacturing experience, AutoCAD skills, and a background in automotive or aerospace manufacturing are especially encouraged to apply.
