The Opportunity

Our client is a large, growing $900M building products and construction services organization operating as a subsidiary of a Fortune 50 company.
\n
\n
The organization continues to invest in its accounting infrastructure and leadership team as it grows and integrates within a larger public-company environment. This creates an excellent opportunity for an Accounting Manager who wants meaningful responsibility, visibility to senior leadership, and exposure to a complex, multi-entity business.

The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Director of Accounting and play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, leading and developing accounting staff, supporting the close process, and ensuring consistent application of U.S. GAAP.
\n
\n
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys both the technical side of accounting and developing a strong team.

Key Responsibilities
\n

- Manage, mentor, and develop Senior and Staff Accountants.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, workload planning, and performance feedback.
- Lead key aspects of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial results.
- Ensure consistent application of U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
- Support and strengthen internal controls, SOX compliance, accounting policies, and process documentation.
- Partner with Operations, FP&A, and other functional leaders to support accounting requirements and provide financial insight.
- Review financial results and identify significant variances, trends, risks, and potential issues.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and leadership-facing materials.
- Provide accounting support related to new initiatives, transactions, and organizational changes.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
- Participate in systems enhancements, automation initiatives, and ERP-related projects.
- Support accounting within a complex parent/subsidiary and multi-entity reporting environment.

Qualifications
\n

- CPA required.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Combination of public accounting and industry experience strongly preferred.
- Big 4 or national public accounting firm experience is a plus.
- Prior people-management experience with a demonstrated ability to develop accounting professionals.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial close, reconciliations, accounting operations, and internal controls.
- Experience working in a large, fast-paced, high-growth, or public-company environment.
- Experience operating within a parent/subsidiary structure, including corporate accounting policies, SOX controls, and consolidation requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across Accounting, Finance, Operations, and other business functions.
- Detail-oriented with a strong process-improvement mindset.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- ERP experience preferred; exposure to SAP S/4HANA is a plus.
- Experience within building products, manufacturing, industrial distribution, construction services, or a multi-location/multi-entity organization is preferred.
