In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, programming, and setting up CNC machines—including lathes and milling machines—to ensure efficient and accurate production runs. Your expertise in CNC programming, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and measurement will drive quality and productivity. Responsibilities
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Program CNC machines using G-code, M-code, and CAM software to create precise machining instructions.
- Set up CNC equipment including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and manual machining tools for production runs.
- Install tooling, fixtures, and measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and precision measuring devices to ensure accurate machining.
- Conduct machine calibration, tool changes, and adjustments to optimize performance and maintain tight tolerances.
- Perform quality inspections using precision measurement instruments to verify dimensions against GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards.
- Troubleshoot machine issues, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safety protocols are followed during setup and operation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with CNC machining including CNC lathe and CNC milling machine operations.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with CAM software like SolidWorks or CAD programs is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Mechanical knowledge of machining tools, tooling setups, grinders, hand tools, power tools, and manual machining techniques.
- Understanding of GD&T principles for quality control purposes.
- Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements and machine setup adjustments.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction in machining processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot CNC equipment issues quickly.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality metal components through precise measurement in machining operations.
