Role Description The Field Service Engineer II is a full-time, on-site role based in Ellendale, ND, responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and repairing equipment and systems at customer locations. Day-to-day tasks include performing diagnostic tests, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and completing preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. The role involves documenting service activities, preparing reports, and communicating clearly with customers and internal teams about findings, recommendations, and timelines. The Field Service Engineer II will follow safety standards and company procedures, support system upgrades, and provide basic training to customers on proper equipment use. This role also collaborates with engineering and support teams to escalate complex issues, suggest improvements, and ensure high-quality, consistent service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings or schematics.

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with experience using test instruments, tools, and standard maintenance practices.

  • Effective communication and customer service skills, including the ability to explain technical issues in clear, accessible language.

  • Solid organizational skills to manage service tickets, documentation, parts, and scheduling in a structured, timely manner.

  • Prior experience in a field service or similar engineering role; experience with industrial or automation equipment is a plus.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, electronics, industrial technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally and regionally as needed to support customer sites.
