This role focuses on performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The Maintenance Technician diagnoses and repairs electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated production equipment, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and helps minimize production downtime through timely troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems in line with established maintenance plans and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Carry out predictive maintenance activities by monitoring equipment performance to identify potential failures before they occur.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and respond quickly to emergency breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on recurring equipment issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future failures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, increasing equipment reliability, and improving overall maintenance effectiveness.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance tasks, inspections, and adjustments to keep equipment operating within optimal parameters.
  • Maintain accurate and timely maintenance records, including work orders, parts used, and equipment histories.
  • Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work, coordinate repairs, and ensure equipment availability.
  • Use provided tools, community tools, and available spare parts to perform high-quality repairs and avoid temporary or incomplete fixes.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician or similar role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical repair skills, including the ability to disassemble, repair, and reassemble production equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance practices and schedules.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting equipment issues to quickly identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
  • Ability to work with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated production systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when documenting maintenance work and equipment histories.
  • Ability to respond effectively to emergency breakdowns and work under time pressure to reduce downtime.
  • Solid understanding of maintenance safety practices and safe use of tools and equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance techniques and monitoring equipment performance indicators.
  • Comfort working with automated and potentially robotic equipment, with an interest in further robotics training.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing maintenance training and upskilling programs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple work orders, priorities, and documentation requirements.

Work Environment

The work environment is an elite, climate-controlled clean room setting within a very clean manufacturing facility, with no oil on the ground and a strong emphasis on organization and safety. All necessary tools are provided on site, along with a large pool of community tools and extra parts to support high-quality, permanent repairs rather than temporary fixes. Team members work evening and night shifts, with typical schedules such as 5:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., supporting around-the-clock operations in a modern, well-maintained facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marion, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
