Primary Purpose:

Working together with a team, implementing daily programming and activities, as well as limited personal care for participants of the Adult Day Services (ADS) program. Providing dementia care and specialty programming for participants, according to ADS services policies and procedures in an atmosphere of comfort, independence and dignity.

Essential Functions

  • Provides participant services as assigned while maintaining the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, independence, self-direction, and self-care of each participant.

  • Assists in creating and implementing ADS programs specifically for adults living with dementia, encourages participants to engage in activities according to their abilities, and leads group and individual activities as assigned.

  • Communicates clearly with ADS Director/Team regarding participant’s needs and documents required service data in participant’s records.

  • Assists fully or partially in restroom as needed for individual participant care.

  • Assists with serving noon meal and 2 snacks according to personal preferences and dietary restrictions.

  • Recognizes special needs within the room as they arise and maintains a sense of calm to relieve potential participant anxiety.

Required Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications

  • Certification or training in direct care and service to elders with dementia or dementia-related illnesses.

  • A minimum of one-year experience serving adults living with dementia in an activity program preferred.

  • We will provide dementia care training if you have no previous experience serving adults within this population.

  • CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers card required within 30 days of hire.

Job Type: Part-time, on-call

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift

  • Monday to Friday

  • Morning shift

  • No nights

  • No weekends

Experience:

  • dementia care: 1 year (Preferred)
