Job Summary
The Incoming QA Technician Level 1 is responsible for conducting incoming material inspections for all raw materials, film, labels, ingredients, etc to monitor for compliance. A main focus of incoming inspections would be for import inspections which are conducted with the USDA Import Inspector to verify and clear material to receive. This position also supports QA responsibilities in the Processing room, enforcing the food safety and quality policies, ensuring checks are documented daily, and assisting the FSQA Manager in 3rd party audits as needed. The Incoming QA Technician Level 1 must work closely with the rest of the QA team as well as cross-functionally with Production and Warehouse teams to ensure success.
Responsibilities
- Import Inspections: Conduct inspections on imported material with USDA Import Inspector, supporting to prepare for any product evaluations or sampling, reviewing and stamping approved materials, and escalating to FSQA Manager for any issues.
- Conduct Pre-Operational Inspection in the Inspection Room to ensure that area is maintained in sanitary conduction for product inspections
- Conduct Receiving Inspections of all incoming materials such as meat ingredients, non-meat ingredients, film, labels, and packaging and escalate findings to FSQA Manager.
- If working in the processing room as line QA tech, ensure that all QA checks are performed, and the associated documents filled out correctly.
- Perform Pre-Operational and Operational sanitation inspections as needed. Ensure corrective actions are implemented if insanitary conditions are found anywhere in the facility.
- Verify and document the accuracy of CCP checks by operators, as well as of other HACCP related documents.
- Ensure GMP compliance in the processing room, when operational.
- Ensure compliance to all food safety and quality policies and procedures by performing product inspections and periodic walkthroughs throughout the facility.
- Communicate with production and/or quality leadership/management to correct any noted discrepancies related to food safety, quality, or regulatory compliance.
- Complete internal audits to monitor GMPs and facility conditions.
- Perform In-Process ATP and Allergen Swabbing as required. Ensure that failures are documented and corrected.
- Communicate with other QA team members to ensure effective transfer of essential information between shifts.
- Monitor the facility per the allergen program to ensure compliance throughout the facility and prevent cross contamination. If deviations or signs of cross-contamination are found, communicate with management and/or relevant employees. Participate in implementing corrective actions.
- Communicate with Processing USDA inspectors as required. Notify management immediately if inspectors find deviations. Implement corrective actions as required/directed.
- Inspect and document acceptability and lot information for labels, ingredients, and packaging materials at receipt. Communicate with management if deviations from specification are found.
- Data entry and other administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, copying, and organization of documents.
- Other duties that may be assigned.
Experience
- Prior Food Processing QA Technician experience preferred
- Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
- Basic skills in Microsoft outlook, Excel, and Word are preferred
- Basic math skills
· High school diploma or equivalent
- Bi-lingual in Spanish is desirable but not necessary
