A busy, locally owned sandwich shop in West Asheville is hiring an experienced, dependable team member for an immediate opening.
This position combines deli/sandwich-line work, customer service, stocking, and cleaning. We are looking for someone who is comfortable staying busy, working in front of customers, and moving between responsibilities without needing constant direction.
Schedule
Monday–Friday: 12:00 PM–6:00 PM
Saturday: 12:00 AM–4:00 PM
Applicants must be able to consistently work this schedule.
Responsibilities
- Prepare made-to-order hot and cold sandwiches
- Slice deli meats and cheeses
- Safely operate and clean a commercial deli slicer
- Take customer orders and provide friendly customer service
- Work efficiently during busy lunch periods
- Follow portioning and food-preparation standards
- Keep the sandwich line stocked and organized
- Refill brine backups, sauces, condiments, and other supplies
- Stock chips and canned beverages
- Wash dishes and kitchen equipment
- Sweep and mop floors
- Clean and maintain the restroom
- Keep food-prep, service, and dining areas clean
- Prioritize tasks and manage time throughout the shift
Experience We Are Looking For
- Commercial deli slicer experience strongly preferred
- Previous experience in a deli, sandwich shop, short-order kitchen, cold kitchen, hot kitchen, or similar restaurant environment
- Comfortable interacting with customers
- Able to work quickly while maintaining accuracy
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Dependable and punctual
- Willing to clean, stock, wash dishes, and help wherever needed
- Able to work independently and as part of a small team
Compensation
Base pay: $16–$17/hour, depending on experience
Employees also receive paycheck tips and daily cash tips. Typical total compensation is approximately $20–$22/hour including tips, although tip amounts vary based on sales and customer gratuities.
Candidates with strong commercial slicer experience and the ability to step into the position with minimal training will receive higher consideration.
Immediate opening. We are looking to begin training as soon as the right candidate is selected.
