Job Description

Job Description

Starting Pay: $21.00/hour | Full-Time | Overtime Available

Becker Contracting is hiring a Selective Demolition Technician to join our crew.

We aren't looking for a perfect résumé, and you don't need years of demolition experience.

We are looking for evidence that you know how to work.

If you have some construction experience, show up when you're supposed to, work hard for your entire shift, take direction, and want to learn a trade, we want to talk to you.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Starting wage: $21.00/hour
  • Full-time employment
  • Overtime opportunities available
  • Time-and-a-half after 40 hours
  • Bi-weekly pay
  • Paid holidays
  • PTO eligibility after successful completion of a 90-day probationary period
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance eligibility after successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.

Work hard, become more valuable, and there is opportunity to earn more.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Applicants must have construction, demolition, remodeling, carpentry, concrete, roofing, landscaping/hardscaping, or other skilled-trade experience.

Demolition experience is not required. We can teach selective demolition.

What we don't want to teach is how to show up for work, how to work a full shift, or how to be dependable.

We're looking for people who already understand that construction means physical work, early mornings, getting dirty, taking direction, and being accountable to the crew working beside you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Becker Contracting specializes in selective demolition and removal. Instead of tearing down entire structures, our crews carefully remove specific portions of buildings while protecting what remains.

Typical work includes:

  • Interior selective demolition
  • Removal of walls, ceilings, flooring, cabinets, fixtures, and finishes
  • Use of hand tools and power tools
  • Loading, carrying, and removing demolition debris
  • Protecting existing areas and finishes that are to remain
  • Jobsite cleanup and organization
  • Working alongside experienced foremen and crew members
  • Following company and jobsite safety procedures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a physical construction position, not a light-duty job. Employees must be able to:

  • Routinely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Remain on their feet and physically active throughout the workday
  • Bend, kneel, climb, carry, push, and pull as required
  • Safely use hand and power tools
  • Work on stairs, ladders, and lifts when necessary
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor construction environments
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (company supplied)
  • Maintain a productive work pace throughout the shift

SCHEDULE & TRANSPORTATION

Our typical workday begins between 7:00 and 8:00 AM, depending on the project. Employees may report directly to the jobsite or to the Becker Contracting shop depending on the day's work. We try to remain flexible whenever possible.

Reliable transportation is REQUIRED.

A valid driver's license is not required for every position unless your responsibilities include operating a company vehicle.

WHAT WE EXPECT

SHOW UP

Reliable attendance matters. Your crew is counting on you. Be where you're supposed to be, on time and ready to work.

WORK

When you're on the clock, we expect a full day's effort. Construction is demanding work, and everyone on the crew has to carry their share.

LEARN

You don't need to know everything. Listen to your foreman, ask questions, learn our methods, and get better every day.

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY

Communicate. Solve problems. Own your mistakes. Take pride in doing things correctly.

BE A GOOD TEAMMATE

Your effort affects everyone working next to you. We want employees other people want on their crew.

DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screening.

Becker Contracting maintains a random drug-testing program that applies to all employees, including company ownership.
