Job Description

The Maintenance Technician ensures that production equipment and machinery operate safely, reliably, and efficiently in a manufacturing or industrial environment. This role focuses on troubleshooting issues, performing repairs, executing preventive maintenance, and supporting the installation and setup of new equipment across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and piping systems.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and machinery issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform basic and advanced repairs on production equipment to restore safe and efficient operation.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to keep machines running smoothly and extend equipment life.
  • Replace worn or defective parts and components to maintain optimal machine performance.
  • Work on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and piping systems as needed.
  • Assist with the installation, setup, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
  • Use machine tools such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines to make or modify parts when required.
  • Perform welding, cutting, and metal fabrication to support repair and maintenance activities.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical apparatus and electronic components, including PLC-controlled systems and 3-phase power.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure reliable operation.
  • Dismantle defective machines and install new or repaired parts in accordance with safety and quality standards.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other machine parts to reduce wear and prevent failures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to guide troubleshooting and repair work.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending and implementing process and equipment improvements.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to resolve equipment issues and support production goals.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage in accordance with company procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician or in industrial maintenance, including troubleshooting and repair of production equipment.
  • Strong mechanical skills, including the ability to work with gears, bearings, shafts, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with PLC control, PLC troubleshooting, and 3-phase power systems.
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, including maintenance and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on a variety of industrial machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  • Experience working with CNC machines and related maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical apparatus and electronic components.
  • Proficiency in operating machine tools such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines.
  • Welding and metal fabrication skills sufficient to support equipment repairs and modifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and maintenance-related correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or in team settings.
  • Basic algebra skills for measurements, calculations, and technical problem-solving.
  • Ability to interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificate from a trade school or alternative certification in electrical, mechanical, or welding applications.
  • Background in industrial, mechanical, or electrical maintenance in a manufacturing environment is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in precision machining or automotive-related manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Comfort working with maintenance repair activities on motors, CNC machines, and industrial equipment.
  • Openness to candidates with relevant certificates or educational Background in lieu of extensive formal experience.

Work Environment

This role is based in a precision manufacturing environment that produces high-quality automotive components using CNC and other industrial machinery. The position operates on a 2nd shift schedule from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., following a rotation of four days on and four days off. The work may involve long hours and mandatory overtime, often extending to 10–12 hour shifts and additional days as production demands require. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with regular exposure to machinery, tools, and industrial processes, and requires consistent adherence to safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Jeffersonville, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55286.00 - $61630.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
