Job Description ResponsAble is seeking a Substation QA/QC professional with strong knowledge in substation construction. Candidates must be experienced in understanding & reading IFC Drawings, performing field QC Inspections to ensure foundations, equipment, etc. are installed according to IFC Drawing Details and Specifications, and completing QC documentation.

Compensation:
Hourly Rate: $53-$55/hr.
Per Diem: $178/day or GSA Rate
Schedule: 50-60 hours a week (depending on project needs)

Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
Implement and maintain the project’s Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with approved procedures, drawings, and specifications. Aligned with industry QA/QC expectations for substation projects
Conduct inspections on foundations, grounding, steel erection, cable installation, terminations, control wiring, and equipment placement.
Verify installation tolerances, torque values, conductor routing, and equipment alignment.
Review and approve ITPs, checklists, test reports, and redlines.
Maintain detailed documentation for all QA/QC activities, including NCRs, corrective actions, and asbuilt records.
Field Oversight & Compliance:
Monitor daily construction activities to ensure adherence to utility standards, NESC, NEC, and projectspecific requirements.
Coordinate with construction managers, foremen, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues.
Support commissioning teams with functional testing, relay checks, and energization readiness.
Ensure all materials and equipment meet approved submittals and manufacturer specifications.
Safety & Regulatory Alignment
Uphold OSHA, utility, and company safety standards during all QA/QC activities.
Participate in JHAs, hazard identification, and safework planning.
Ensure compliance with environmental, federal, and state regulations applicable to substation construction.

Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate daily logs, inspection reports, punch lists, and quality records.
Track and verify completion of corrective actions.
Provide QA/QC updates during project meetings and support turnover package development.
Qualifications:
3–10+ years of QA/QC experience in substation, transmission, or heavy electrical construction.
Strong understanding of highvoltage equipment, grounding systems, control wiring, and commissioning processes.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Experience with utility standards (e.g., Duke, Entergy, Oncor, PG&E) preferred.
Certifications: OSHA 30, NESC/NEC familiarity, CPR/First Aid; additional utility or EPC QA/QC credentials a plus.
