Job DescriptionProduce ManagerHourly rate based on experience, $21.00 is starting pay. Also eligible for quarterly bonus based on performance.Lead one of our busiest, most visible departments. As Produce Manager, you'll own the day-to-day success of the produce department - from the quality on the tables to the team behind the counter. You'll lead a team 6-10 people, set the pace for freshness and service, and be the go-to expert for everything produce in a high-volume store.This role requires open availability with shifts falling between 6am–10pm, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.WHAT YOU'LL OWN:Full accountability for the produce department's quality, freshness, presentation, and profitabilitySetting product assortment and inventory levels, and ordering to meet demand based on sales trends and forecastsCreating production sheets and building the department schedule to hit coverage and labor goalsPricing accuracy and signage across the department, with special attention to ad itemsDepartment cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance standardsHiring, training, mentoring, and developing produce and fresh-cut associates - including honest, direct performance feedbackQuarterly inventory for all produce department productsActive participation on the Safety Committee, championing safety for associates and customers alikeClear, consistent communication with the Store DirectorsDelivering hands-on, exceptional customer service and setting the standard for the teamWHAT YOU BRING:Two+ years of produce department experience preferred; prior leadership experience a strong plusCurrent Food Handler's PermitDeep product knowledge - fruits, vegetables, fresh salsa and guacamole, fresh-pack items - and how to prepare themStrong leadership and conflict-resolution skills; comfortable managing a diverse teamSharp organizational and planning skills, with sound judgment for day-to-day decisionsA self-directed, mission-driven attitude with a genuine commitment to team successOpen availability including evenings, weekends, and holidaysHigh school diploma or GED; some college preferredTHE WORK ITSELF:This is an active, hands-on role - expect to be on your feet throughout the shift, lifting and moving product up to 50 lbs, and working in a store environment that includes cold, wet, or slippery conditions at times.
