A Direct Hire Jr Field Service Technician/Help Desk role is available in Irvine, CA, servicing CNC machinery with 70% travel across the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The position offers a $50-53K base salary plus travel pay (approx. $70K+ first year). Candidates need 2-4 years of mechanical/electrical experience, CNC familiarity, and hands-on DIY skills.
Key Requirements & Skills
- Experience: 2-4 years in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, ideally in automation or automotive industries.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical/electronic, and pneumatic components. Experience with CNC machines and precision tools (dial gauges, calipers) is required.
- Operating various CNC type of machines
- Knowledge of modern CNC machinery principles is highly preferred.
- ASE Certification a plus and experience with ISO 9001
- DIY Aptitude: Experience building computers, 3D printers, or similar technical projects is desired.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 70% of the time, including international travel (requires valid passport).
- Languages: Spanish language skills are a plus.
- Documentation: Valid driver's license with no DUI's is required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Installation & Maintenance: Perform on-site machine installation, routine preventive maintenance, and operator training.
- Troubleshooting: Identify, diagnose, and resolve customer technical issues on-site, via phone, and email.
- Customer Support: Act as a technical representative, assisting with component replacements and maintaining high customer service standards.
- Shows: Provide technical support at trade shows and exhibitions as required.
Compensation and Work Schedule
- Salary: $50,000 - $53,000 annually + travel pay (expected total compensation around $70,000 in the first year).
- Training: Higher travel frequency is expected during the initial training period.
- Schedule: 8 am - 5 pm, M-F when not traveling, based in the Irvine office.
