Job DescriptionWe are looking for an Attorney/Lawyer to join a sophisticated trusts and estates practice in Morristown, New Jersey. This role centers on advising individuals, families, fiduciaries, and closely held businesses on estate planning strategies, wealth transfer, and related tax considerations. The position offers the opportunity to handle complex planning matters, draft substantial estate documents, and support clients through both administration and dispute-related issues.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and revise detailed estate planning documents, including complex wills and multi-part trust instruments tailored to client objectives.
• Counsel individuals and families on strategies for preserving wealth, transferring assets, and aligning estate plans with personal and business goals.
• Advise trustees and fiduciaries on trust administration, asset oversight, and distributions in accordance with governing documents and applicable law.
• Evaluate the tax impact of estate planning structures and recommend approaches that address estate, gift, inheritance, and related tax exposure.
• Support business succession and intergenerational transfer planning for owners seeking orderly transitions of control and ownership.
• Represent clients in matters involving contested estates, trust disagreements, and other probate or fiduciary disputes.
• Assist with responses to state and federal tax inquiries, audits, and controversies connected to estate, gift, or income tax matters.• Demonstrated experience in trusts and estates law, including estate planning and trust-related matters.
• Strong drafting ability with complex wills, trusts, and other sophisticated estate planning documents.
• Working knowledge of tax issues affecting estates, gifts, trusts, and wealth transfer planning.
• Ability to advise fiduciaries and individual clients on administration responsibilities and legal obligations.
• Experience handling or supporting disputes involving wills, trusts, or estate proceedings is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain nuanced legal concepts clearly.
• Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple matters effectively.
