General Summary: Under general supervision, oversees the quality control operations during the designated shift which includes maintaining the overall plant quality system plus daily job assignments. The Vice President for Research serves as a member of the university's executive leadership team, reporting directly to the President, and works closely with the Provost and other members of the President’s Cabinet. As the senior research officer of the university, the Vice President for Research is responsible for collaborating with relevant constituencies to develop and implement a vision, plan, and policies to guide and expand the university's research portfolio, and work with faculty to oversee critical aspects of the university's research infrastructure and operations.
Direct reports to the Vice President for Research currently include assistant/associate vice presidents, directors, staff members within the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR). The Division of Research consists of Sponsored Programs Administration, the Office of Research Compliance, the Division of Laboratory Animal Research, and the Office of Environmental Health and Safety. Vice President for Research

PHI’s Senior Workforce Intervention Specialist works to improve job quality for direct care workers by contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of PHI’s practice-based employment and training models. As a part of PHI’s Workforce Innovations Team (WIT), they will specialize in leading engagements related to operationalizing and evaluating meaningful advancement opportunities that expand the direct care career ladder; additionally, they may support programs aimed at strengthening recruitment and retention practices, creating a coaching culture, developing adult-learner centered training, and assessing direct care job quality. Outstanding skills in critical thinking, proactive leadership, written and verbal communication, relationship building, and workforce and organizational development are essential for success in this role. &nbsp;
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Lead the implementation of PHI practice-based job quality interventions, including creating and maintaining work plans and timelines, managing partner relationships, executing project activities, and reporting progress to PHI’s Vice President of Workforce Innovations through verbal and written communication.</li>
<li>Build and manage relationships with numerous strategic workforce partners – including long-term care employers, payors, advocates, and others - to support collaboration and the successful integration of job quality practices.</li>
<li>Provide technical assistance and consulting to project-based partners to support program design, implementation, and evaluation; this will include intensive, hands-on support to project partners to assess and modify organizational practices in support of implementing and maintaining workplace environments conducive to high-quality direct care jobs.</li>

Primary Function:

Manage the relationships of our high-level donors andprospects as part of a major gifts program.
The largest guide dog school in North America, Guide Dogs forthe Blind, is looking for an experienced fundraiser to join us as aSenior Philanthropic Gifts Officer. Serving as astrong advocate of our mission, you will manage a portfolio ofhigh-level donors and prospects for our major gifts program. Donorsand prospects reside mainly in California, with clusters of donorsscattered throughout the U.S. and Canada. This positionwill be based at our San Rafael, CA campus, with possible hybridwork opportunities. Travel is up to 50%.&nbsp;

What You’ll Do:
<ul>
<li>Develop and manage identification, cultivation, solicitation,and stewardship strategies for individual donors and prospects</li>
<li>Qualify major donor prospects and develop specific strategiesfor each donor and prospect</li>
<li>Leverage board and other volunteer relationships and programleaders to maximize development opportunities, including designingand executing high-level solicitations</li>
<li>Practice best-in-class stewardship of donors in portfolio toincrease gift size, secure multi-year gifts, and maximizeretention</li>
<li>Utilize and update the donor database by recording activities,contacts, and strategies on an ongoing basis</li>
<li>With the help of the special events manager, create and executeintimate cultivation or donor-hosted fundraising events whennecessary</li>
<li>Track and report on overall major giving activity and results;develop and utilize tracking model; provide monthly and quarterlyincome forecasting</li>
</ul>

What You’ll Need:
<ul>
<li>10+ years of experience soliciting and successfully obtainingmajor gifts in the five- to seven-figure range</li>
<li>Strong track or performance record of attaining challengingannual fundraising goals</li>
<li>Bachelor’s degree desired</li>
<li>Working knowledge of fundraising or philanthropy guidelines,structure, and theory as well as principles of gift planning</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience using effective communication andinterpersonal skills, patience, active listening, diplomacy, andtact to build strong and engaging relationships with donors,volunteers, and all levels of staff</li>
<li>Willing and able to undertake overnight travel anywhere inNorth America up to 50% of the time</li>
<li>Current driver’s license and insurability at normal riskrates</li>
<li>Proficient in MS Office; working knowledge of SalesForce highlydesirable</li>
<li>Ability to perform basic administrative support duties andability to work proactively and function independently</li>
<li>Knowledge of and experience with people with disabilities oranimal issues is a plus</li>
