The Summer Camp Counselor is energetic and ready to dive into a summer full of fun, friendship, and exploration with the youngest members of our community. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of activities such as gross motor games and exciting art activities, AND responsible for the safety of the children at all times.
 
A camp counselor shall have attained one of the following qualification levels:
<ul>
<li>A high school diploma OR a general educational development certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college/university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field.</li>
<li>A high school diploma OR a general educational development certificate, including 600 or more hours of secondary training described in (PA Code) 3270.319 (relating to age and training).</li>
<li>A high school diploma OR a general education development certificate, 15 credit hours from an accredited college/university in early childhood education, development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year experience with children.</li>
<li>A high school diploma OR a general education development certificate and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum described in 3270.31. (PA Code)</li>
<li>A high school diploma OR a general education development certificate and 2 years' experience with children.</li>
</ul>
 
Specific Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Uphold the policies and philosophy of the Beaver County YMCA.</li>
<li>Attend staff orientation, trainings and meetings when scheduled.</li>
<li>Maintain professional conduct and a neat appearance consistent with the YMCA Dress Policy.</li>
<li>Provide a safe, positive, nurturing environment for children.</li>
<li>Interact with the children who attend the program by organizing and participating in planned enrichment activities and/or special events.</li>
<li>Report all accidents/incidents to the Youth Director and fill out the appropriate forms.</li>
<li>Report needed repairs of dangerous situations to the Youth Director.</li>
<li>Understand and implement emergency safety procedures as necessary</li>

Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

<li> Able to attend all of the summer camp work season </li>

Minimum Requirements:

Job Description
Summer Programs at The Ellis School is seeking Day Camp Counselors to provide memorable summer camp experiences to campers age 3-9 through collaboration, friendship, and community in a day camp setting. Summer Programs at The Ellis School will run Monday through Friday from June 8-July 31, 2026; Camp will be closed June 19 and July 4. Ideal candidates will be available for at least 4 weeks of the summer.
 
The Counselor will be assigned to a designated group of 10-15 campers with an instructor. Counselors are responsible for assisting instructors and occasionally leading activities, coordinating camp games, and guiding campers in their summer experiences. Full-day and half-day positions are available, as well as the ability to pick up additional hours supervising the after-care program.
 
Responsibilities:

Welcome and supervise campers during morning check-in.

Assist instructors during activities, lessons, and events as an active participant

Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their camper group within activities and throughout the camp

ABOUT J CAMP
J Camp - the Jewish Community Center Day Camp, offers a summer full of adventure, new activities and ultimate camp fun! Boys and girls entering 1st-8th grade register for weekly sessions. 
Camp activities include games, crafts, science, sports, archery, swimming, swim lessons, Jewish and Israeli culture, field trips, and special events. Specialty camps offer specific skill development through art projects, theatrical productions, triathlon training, culinary projects, engineering activities, and basketball, soccer, baseball and football training and drills. Older youth programming specifically focuses on leadership development and community service.
You will be joining a staff that is caring, friendly, and skilled in providing a great summer experience. You will be able to develop job skills such as problem solving, negotiating, listening, flexibility, and creativity.

<li>Works directly with campers to lead fun, age-appropriate programming and uses positive teaching techniques. </li>
<li>Oversees all aspects of the camper group schedule and programs. Creates and carries out activity plans. Supervises youth at all activities including the pool and on field trips. </li>
<li>Works with Camp Director to create and implement behavior management plans. </li>
<li>Maintains records as required, such as attendance, and swimming records. Responsible for making sure child has medications needed. and safety related information.</li>
<li>Leads or assists with all camp special activities. Attends staff trainings and staff meetings.</li>

Junior Counselors
<ul>
<li>Must be at least 16 years old and entering 11th-12 grade. Salary $14-15 per hour.</li>
<li>Assists Senior Counselor in creating activity plans, leading group activities, and recordkeeping.</li>
<li>Actively works with and supervises campers. Assists with teaching activities and pool supervision.</li>
<li>Assists with maintaining records such as attendance and swimming records. </li>
<li>Assists with monitoring the health and safety of campers. Helps to manage behaviors. </li>
<li>Attends orientation, staff meetings, and assigned Undernight programs.</li>
</ul>
Ma’asim Tovim Senior Counselors
<ul>
<li>Must be 21 years of age or older. Must have a valid driver’s license. All Ma’asim Tovim staff will be required to have a clean driving record. Salary $17-18/hour depending on qualifications. </li>
<li>Responsible for the health and safety of campers.</li>
<li>Oversees all aspects of camper group schedule and programs. Creates and carries out activity plans. </li>
<li>Drives campers to program sites and maintains cleanliness of 15-passenger van.</li>
<li>Attends orientation, staff meetings and assists with special camp activities.</li>
<li>Works with Camp Director to create and implement behavior management plans.</li>

Para-Educators: Must be 19 years of age or older. $16-18/hour based on qualifications. Preference to those with education or experience in working with youth with special needs. Responsibilities: Work with youth with developmental or special needs to modify or adapt camp experiences. With assistance, develop goals and document progress. 
Before and After-Care Staff: Must be 16 or older. Prefer staff 18 years of age or older. $14-17 per hour based on qualifications. Provides programming and supervise youth before and after camp. (7-9 a.m. and 3:30-6 p.m.) Can be combined with other positions.
Archery Specialist: Must be 19 years of age or older. $16-18/hour based on qualifications. Set up and teach archery skill sessions for campers. Creatively makes archery a fun experience for campers. Will be required to have Archery certification or complete certification training. 
Culinary Camp Chef: Must be 21 years of age or older. Salary based on qualifications. Prepares a curriculum of recipes and culinary instruction for each week of Culinary Camp. Uses safe food handling practices as well as Kosher guidelines. Hours roughly 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weeks: 6/8-26 and 7/6-31. 
Art/STEM Specialist: Prefer those 19 years of age older. $16-18/hour based on qualifications. Creates Art or STEM programs for campers, including Barney Goodman and BOOM! campers. Plans and conducts weekly sessions.
