Job Summary
The Purdue University College of Pharmacy is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice. The Department is composed of dynamic faculty with diverse scholarly and engagement interests that include clinical practice, clinical sciences, public health, and social and administrative sciences.
The Department Head is responsible for implementing a multifaceted mission by direct and collaborative efforts relating to vision and leadership, program administration, personnel development, and scholarly activities that occur on the West Lafayette and Indianapolis campuses. Additionally, programmatic oversight is required for graduate programs, residency and fellowship programs, and international programs in London, Colombia, and Eldoret, Kenya. The latter of which is part of a collaboration with the Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine’s Nobel-prize nominated Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH) program. The Department Head also is a member of the Dean’s Leadership Team and contributes to the teaching of Doctor of Pharmacy and graduate students.
The Department consists of 20 tenure-track faculty, 25 clinical faculty, along with many adjunct faculty and hundreds of affiliate faculty preceptors. Many practice in specialized areas such as drug information, internal medicine, ambulatory care, cardiology, infectious diseases, women’s health, and nuclear pharmacy. Research initiatives are also highly diverse, with a broad portfolio of funding from federal and state agencies, industry, and foundations.
Within the Department of Pharmacy Practice, two graduate program tracks exist: (a) Health Services Outcomes and Policy and (b) Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences, the latter of which operates in close collaboration with the Division of Clinical Pharmacology at the Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine. The Department also offers several PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs and many fellowship programs in collaboration with pharmaceutical industry sponsors and the FDA. Additional centers and programs within the Department include Rx-SafeNet (a pharmacy practice-based research network), the oldest and largest nuclear pharmacy training program in the country, and an endowed Center for Health Equity and Innovation. Beyond the Department, long-term partnerships and collaborations exist with the Regenstrief Institute for Health Care, the Indiana University Schools of Medicine and Public Health, Eskenazi Health, IU Health, and other health systems across Indiana.
The College is seeking candidates who possess a Doctor of Pharmacy, PhD in Pharmacy, and/or other related doctoral degree and have a solid record of: (a) a vibrant and funded scholarly research program, (b) effective leadership in areas related to the practice of pharmacy, and (c) excellence in teaching. Prior administrative experience is desirable, but not required. The appointment is at the level of full professor (with tenure), and an appointment to an Endowed Professorship will be considered for highly qualified candidates.

Department Head, Pharmacy Practice

The Chief of Endocrinology will provide strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the&nbsp;Division. The Division Chief will be responsible for all planning, policy, operations, and&nbsp;oversight of academic, research, and clinical programs of the Division. The Chief of Endocrinology&nbsp;will have financial authority over the division&nbsp; budget, including extramural research and&nbsp;philanthropic funding received and other financial matters for the division, in accordance with&nbsp;applicable University policies and practices. The Chief of Endocrinology will have discretion in&nbsp;the recruitment and retention of division faculty who will have a direct reporting line. RN Ambulatory

<h3>Job Description</h3>
Responsible for the billing and collections of physician claims. This position will file physician claims for reimbursement, including electronic and paper submissions. Monitor physician systems, billing and patient accounting system, department reports, taking corrective action to ensure accuracy in claim filing to payers. The Ambulatory Coordinator I will function in accordance with federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. This position is also responsible for consistent commercial insurance follow-up of physician claim(s) greater than 30 days, aged from final bill date, and resolution of same in a timely and cost-effective manner. This requires forming relationships with the individual insurance payers/clients in order to have the maximum response for timely and accurate payment. Monitor patient accounts assigned for accurate payment(s) or non-payment and take compliant actions for account reimbursement.

Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

<li>Resolution of all billing claims; electronic and manual. End of month reporting and distribution of reports to contracted physicians.</li>
<li>Able to understand, explain and handle referral/authorization issues, pre-authorization requirements, verifications, appeals, and medical necessity issues.</li>
<li>Timely follow up of claims including the completion of additional tasks to assure claims are paid timely. Ability to respond timely to insurance and billing inquiries made in person, by mail or over the phone. Completion of all billing edits</li>
<li>Awareness, knowledge and cognitive ability in use of 1500 form locators, ICD 9 codes, CPT codes, and modifiers </li>

<li>The Ambulatory Registered Dietitian (RD) acts as a key member of the interdisciplinary team to ensure that quality and therapeutic nutritional services are provided to medical weight loss and bariatric surgery patients.</li>
<li>The RD assists in the planning, organization and development of the overall operations of the Medical Weight Loss &amp; Bariatric Nutrition department in cooperation with the Bariatric Providers.</li>
<li>The RD will have the support of a full-time Medical Assistant designated for the Dietitian.</li>
<li>The RD must hold a Registered Dietitian credential and a Licensed Nutritionist/Dietitian in Delaware and Maryland.</li>
<li>The Ambulatory Registered Dietitian will work in a busy, high-volume outpatient clinic environment providing 1:1 consultation. </li>
<li>The schedule is 4, 10-hour shifts to be scheduled within the work week, Monday - Friday, day shift, no nights, holidays or weekends. </li>

<li>Work closely with the bariatric coordinator to ensure timely submission and accurate information regarding diet and nutrition for the pre- and post-surgical patient.</li>
<li>Coordinates with Metabolic and Bariatric System, MBS, Coordinator in all aspects of dietary services for the metabolic and bariatric patient</li>
<li>Lead support groups (currently: System Bariatric Support group/ “Boot Camp”) and track attendance for pre- and post-surgical patients.</li>
<li>Participates in metabolic and bariatric surgery team rounds/meetings and assigned committees</li>
<li>Collaborates with physicians, nurses and other allied health staff to provide patient care.</li>
<li>Participates in QI activities required to meet MBSAQIP Accreditation</li>
