General Summary of the Job:
This position is responsible for performing secretarial duties while utilizing a variety of medical skills, specific medical terminology and requires working under the direct supervision of a Physician. This is a Full-Time Non-Exempt position. 
Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to:

<li>Schedule patient appointments</li>
<li>Verify insurance prior to patient visit</li>
<li>Enter and update patient demographics</li>
<li>Collect patient balances, co-pays, and estimates</li>
<li>Obtain authorization for visits (HMO,WC)</li>
<li>Answer phones</li>
<li>Sort and distribute mail and/or faxes</li>
<li>Medical records</li>
<li>Cover other clinics as needed. </li>
<li>Complete EDD/FMLA forms</li>
</ul>

Education and Experience

<li>Understanding of EPM/EHR system.</li>

<li>Knowledge of medical insurance and workers compensation.</li>

Equipment Operated

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving, mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. There is a combination of office and clinical settings. 
 
Mental/Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms above shoulder level and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb; or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds, with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Requires working under stressful conditions. Some travel to satellite offices and meetings is required.

Job SummaryWe are seeking a Medical Secretary to join our team! As a Medical Secretary, you will be responsible for greeting patients who come in the door, checking them in, and pulling relevant patient files or obtaining new patient information. You will also answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate place, mail or fax documentation to the appropriate offices, and maintain excellent medical and correspondence records, as appropriate. The ideal candidate is very organized, has strong customer service and interpersonal skills, and works well independently and within a team. Responsibilities&nbsp;
