Medical Secretary – Surgical Scheduling (Contract)
Location: West Palm Beach & Delray Beach, FL (floating between locations)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Duration: 3-Month Contract
Compensation: $58,000 – $60,000 (annualized equivalent)
About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Medical Secretary with a strong background in surgical scheduling to support a high-performing clinical team. This role is critical in ensuring seamless coordination of surgical cases—from initial scheduling through post-operative follow-up—with a heavy focus on orthopedic procedures.
You’ll act as a central point of communication between physicians, hospitals, and patients, helping deliver a smooth, organized surgical experience.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, with a focus on orthopedic cases (e.g., hip and shoulder replacements)
- Serve as the primary liaison between physicians, hospital surgical teams, and patients
- Manage provider calendars, block time, and case scheduling logistics
- Coordinate pre-op and post-op appointments, testing, and clearances
- Ensure all required documentation is complete and submitted prior to procedures
- Upload, track, and maintain patient records and surgical documentation within the EMR
- Proactively communicate updates, changes, and instructions to all stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of surgical scheduling experience (orthopedics strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of hospital systems, surgical workflows, and case coordination
- Experience with Epic or similar EMR platforms
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Highly organized and detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working with an older patient population
- Ability to float between nearby office locations as needed
