The Department of Africana Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for the position of Associate Professor of African American and African Diasporic Literature with tenure, to begin August 2024. Applicants with research and teaching interests&nbsp;in any aspects of the production and consumption of African American and African Diasporic literary and popular culture with interdisciplinary and intersectional approaches are welcome. We seek an associate professor with a demonstrated record of excellence in scholarship and teaching related to the field of Africana Studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a commitment to and record of advocacy on behalf of the field, and who has leadership potential to assume the headship of the department within a couple of years. Preference will also be given to candidates who understand the historic and contemporary Black experience in America and the African Diaspora and are well-versed in critical race studies to provide intellectual and administrative leadership to our interdisciplinary program. A Ph.D. in African American Literature and African Diasporic Literature or a closely related field is required, and additional expertise in African American and African Diasporic literature, media, and/or visual culture is preferred. Preference is given to scholars whose scholarship focuses on the explorations of African American and African Diasporic literary and cultural practices, historic and contemporary social justice movements, racial (in)justice, structural inequality, and intersectionality through comparative and transnational lenses. The position is fully located in the Africana Studies Department, with the possibility of teaching courses cross-listed with the English Department and other campus units. Assistant Professor of Sociology - Environmental Inequality/Climate Change

Position Description
The Department of Sociology at the University of Washington invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in the study of housing and/or homelessness. The Department of Sociology is located on the Seattle campus of the University of Washington. Washington State Law requires that this ad list a binding salary range.&nbsp;The base salary range for this position will be $9650 - $13500&nbsp;per month on a 9-month basis ($86,850 - $121,500 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.&nbsp;
The position will begin on September 16, 2024, and is full time with a 9-month service period.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D., or foreign equivalent, in sociology or closely related field by the start of the appointment.

Assistant Professor of Sociology - Housing/Homelessness

The Media School at Indiana University Bloomington invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level in sports media and communication. The School seeks to expand its program of research and teaching in the field of sports and media, especially aspects of the field related to digital convergence, social media, sports journalism, sports media production, and/or sport organizational communication. The ideal applicant will have an active program of research focused on sports and media with the ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate students. The successful applicant will be expected to play a key role in refining and expanding our sports media program, contribute to the intellectual and professional development of students, and interface with key constituents within the sports media industry.&nbsp;

The Media School houses the Sports Media Program, one of the fastest-growing programs of its kind in North America with over 250 undergraduate majors from across the globe. The program features nearly a dozen sports media-specific courses and is supported by the National Sports Journalism Center. The school serves nearly 1,900 undergraduate majors in four degree programs (Journalism, Media, Game Design, and Cinematic Arts) incorporating 11 concentrations. The school also offers graduate degrees (M.A., M.S. and Ph.D.) to approximately 75 graduate students, of whom two-thirds are in a doctoral program. Our state-of-the-art facilities include equipment for television, film and audio production, game design and communication research. The school is home to approximately 70 faculty members and 50 staff members, all working to foster excellence in the practice and study of the media arts and sciences. Faculty members maintain active programs of research cutting across the social sciences and critical humanities, teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute to service at the school, campus, and national/international levels.&nbsp;&nbsp;
