The Chief of Endocrinology will provide strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the&nbsp;Division. The Division Chief will be responsible for all planning, policy, operations, and&nbsp;oversight of academic, research, and clinical programs of the Division. The Chief of Endocrinology&nbsp;will have financial authority over the division&nbsp; budget, including extramural research and&nbsp;philanthropic funding received and other financial matters for the division, in accordance with&nbsp;applicable University policies and practices. The Chief of Endocrinology will have discretion in&nbsp;the recruitment and retention of division faculty who will have a direct reporting line. Qualified&nbsp;candidates must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) or equivalent degree&nbsp;from an accredited institution and be eligible for a University of Arizona academic appointment at&nbsp;the Associate or Full Professor rank. The Chief of Endocrinology will also play a prominent role in&nbsp;the establishment of a Diabetes Research Center with the support of an ongoing University of&nbsp;Arizona (UA) capital campaign and the continued development of an NIH - T32 training program in&nbsp;diabetes, endocrine, and metabolism.

Duties &amp; Responsibilities:

<li>Provide leadership and management of day-to-day operations of the Division of Endocrinology.</li>
<li>Responsible for recruitment, management, compensation, and retention of faculty in consideration of&nbsp;UA, UHSC, College, and B—UMG strategic plans and initiatives in balance of the multiple, tripartite&nbsp;mission of the University.</li>
<li>Collaborate with Academic Affairs and other educational offices at the College to ensure the&nbsp;division and their faculty are advancing the mission of the medical student, graduate student, and&nbsp;graduate medical education teaching programs.</li>
<li>Responsible for maintaining liaison with other clinical and/or basic science departments to foster&nbsp;an integrated teaching environment for the College.</li>
<li>Has the responsibility to support and expand research activities within the division, and across&nbsp;the Department, College and UAHS, working with key partners.</li>
<li>Provide leadership oversight and effective management of an active program of independent,&nbsp;extramurally funded basic, translational or clinical research in area of research&nbsp;expertise/specialization.</li>
<li>Is the clinical role model and leader of the division’s clinical activities and works with the&nbsp;Dean, Department Head, and the B—UMG CEO to coordinate the clinical activities of the division and oversee inpatient and outpatient clinical services.</li>

The Instructor of Allied Health Practical Nursing is responsible for the delivery of quality, safe practical nursing education in the clinical, skills lab, and simulation settings.
 
Nature of Work
Provide didactic and clinical education to nursing students in the classroom and in a variety of healthcare settings as they progress through three semesters of course work.

Communicates students clinical and lab progress, concerns, absences, and counseling to the Lead Cohort Instructor and the Director of Practical Nursing in a timely manner. Maintains the student clinical skills performance record and communicates need for remediation within 24 hours to the student and the Lead Cohort/Campus instructor. Provides a safe clinical learning environment by: assigning appropriate patient care consistent with the students academic/experience level, ensuring the student is familiar with equipment, following safety protocols of the clinical facility, providing the student with the information required to safely care for the assigned patient, and observing the student during all medication administration and invasive procedures. Occasional travel to other campuses for special events or learning opportunities may be required. Performs other related duties accompanying the position.
 
Professional Development
Compliance training is to be completed routinely and timely and as directed by the Director of Practical Nursing. Participate in additional professional development opportunities through LinkedIn Learning and professional organization affiliations. Maintain membership in professional nursing organizations. Maintains 15 hours of continuing education each year pursuant to the legislative rules of the West Virginia State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses.

Key ResponsibilitiesThe position in nursing is in the following specialty areas: Medical- Surgical Nursing. Faculty for the Nursing department should demonstrate initiative, creativity, enthusiasm, and collaboration with the ability to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings to accommodate the department and college needs. A strong candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to teach introductory nursing students who are part of a diverse student population. Faculty work to maintain program compliance with accreditation standards according to the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and requirements from the Maryland Board of Nursing as well as institutional requirements such as learning outcome objectives and course/program review. Faculty will collaborate with education partners, business/industry, and/or external agencies as appropriate to promote the instructional mission and vision of AACC. Provide oversight of lab equipment and student records. Maintain student records in accordance with established deadlines using a variety of technology-based programs (examples but not limited to: Colleague and CANVAS). Attend college professional development sessions, and college/school/department meetings. The PN program is year-round; summer hours are expected. Thirty faculty load hour annual contract taught during fall and spring terms for teaching and assessing student learning; six office hours per week during the spring and fall terms which includes student advising and mentoring, professional development and department, school, and college/community service. Courses to be instructed include lecture (including synchronous and asynchronous online), lab, clinical and simulation. The position will require in-state travel to affiliate clinical sites and potentially off-site instruction. Candidates should be committed to student-centered, outcomes-based education with experience incorporating multiple instructional strategies and the use of technology in teaching and learning. Full-time faculty are expected to participate on committees in the department, school of health sciences, and the college Skills, Knowledge and Expertise&nbsp;Master’s degree in nursing Minimum of two years of current full-time equivalent nursing experience in Medical- Surgical Nursing.
