SUMMARY
South Denver OBGYN and Midwives is looking for a CNM with a strong team spirit and a passion for birth to join our practice full-time. We work within a private OBGYN group with very supportive physicians who truly understand the Midwifery Model of care. In addition Littleton Hospital supports low intervention birth which creates a team spirit with the nurses and our Midwives. South Denver OBGYN is a member of the OnPoint Medical Group Network.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Provide full-scope midwifery care including independent management of women’s health care focusing primarily on pregnancy, birth, postpartum as well as family planning, gynecological and primary care of women.</li>
<li>Practice that provides for consultation, collaborative management or referral to obstetrics, perinatology, and other specialties as indicated by client health status</li>
<li>Manage hospital labor assessment and admission, normal and abnormal labor, cervical ripening and labor induction, postpartum care and discharge.</li>
<li>Perform vaginal birth and laceration repair, limited 1st trimester and 3rd trimester OB ultrasounds as appropriate to training and experience, C-section first surgical assist, and IUD and subdermal contraceptive implant insertion and removal.</li>
<li>Maintain medical records according to community standards of practice.</li>
</ul>
EDUCATION:

<li>Masters or Doctorate Degree in Nurse-Midwifery or Midwifery required.</li>

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

The Certified Nurse Midwife is a registered professional nurse who has specialized skills, knowledge and experience in obstetrical, neonatal and gynecological medicine and is duly authorized to perform designated acts of medical therapeutics and corrective measures in collaboration with and under the supervision of a licensed physician.

<li>To provide prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care for healthy obstetric patients.</li>
<li>To interact with the Obstetric physicians to facilitate care of midwifery service patients requiring cesarean section or other interventions.</li>
<li>To provide newborn care following delivery and until 28 days post-delivery to well newborns.</li>
<li>To provide preventive well woman exams, including pap smears and breast exams, and contraception on an outpatient basis. </li>

Education: Graduate from an RN School of Nursing. MSN with graduation from a Certified Nurse Midwifery program. Experience: 1 year of independent, full spectrum midwifery practice preferred. Licensure/Certifications: Nurse Midwife Nurse Practitioner (NMNP) licensed by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN); Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the American Midwifery Certification Board; Basic Life Support (BLS) certified by American Heart Association (AHA); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA).
