The Arnold School of Public Health (ASPH) and the College of Nursing (CON) at the University of South Carolina (USC) invite applications for six tenure-track faculty positions as part of the inaugural NIH-funded USC FIRST FIIRRE program. The multi-year NIH FIRST (Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation) initiative intends to enhance inclusive excellence at competitively determined institutions across the United States. In the context of USC's strategic plan, the FIRST FIIRRE (Faculty Initiative for Improved Recruitment, Retention, and Experience) team has developed a tailored strategy to achieve significant and sustainable institutional culture change by implementing institutional programs and practices that support inclusive excellence. Qualifications: Candidates should have a doctoral degree or equivalent training that prepares them for a career as an independent researcher in the broadly defined fields of public health or nursing. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to conducting rigorous, high-level research with potential for NIH funding, including the production of scholarly publications; have a track record for, or show the potential to receive external funding; and have a strong, documented commitment to inclusive excellence. The FIRST program is especially interested in candidates from groups who are underrepresented in the biomedical, clinical, behavioral, and social sciences, such as racial and ethnic minoritized populations, those from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, individuals with disabilities, and women.

Associate of Early Stage Full Professor of Sociology

The Media School at Indiana University Bloomington invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level in sports media and communication. The School seeks to expand its program of research and teaching in the field of sports and media, especially aspects of the field related to digital convergence, social media, sports journalism, sports media production, and/or sport organizational communication. The ideal applicant will have an active program of research focused on sports and media with the ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate students. The successful applicant will be expected to play a key role in refining and expanding our sports media program, contribute to the intellectual and professional development of students, and interface with key constituents within the sports media industry.&nbsp;

The Media School houses the Sports Media Program, one of the fastest-growing programs of its kind in North America with over 250 undergraduate majors from across the globe. The program features nearly a dozen sports media-specific courses and is supported by the National Sports Journalism Center. The school serves nearly 1,900 undergraduate majors in four degree programs (Journalism, Media, Game Design, and Cinematic Arts) incorporating 11 concentrations. The school also offers graduate degrees (M.A., M.S. and Ph.D.) to approximately 75 graduate students, of whom two-thirds are in a doctoral program. Our state-of-the-art facilities include equipment for television, film and audio production, game design and communication research. The school is home to approximately 70 faculty members and 50 staff members, all working to foster excellence in the practice and study of the media arts and sciences. Faculty members maintain active programs of research cutting across the social sciences and critical humanities, teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute to service at the school, campus, and national/international levels.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Assistant/Associate Professor in Sports Media and Communications

The Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Montevallo invites applications for a tenure-track position in history at the level of assistant professor, beginning Fall 2024. The successful candidate must have evidence of potential for scholarship and excellence in teaching. Preference will be given to applicants with specialization in United States and African American History; experience in Women’s History is desirable as well. Minority applicants are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates must be able to teach a variety of undergraduate courses within their specialization to include World Civilizations, U.S. History Survey, and upper-level electives.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. from an accredited program in history. Applicants who are ABD will also be considered with evidence that they will complete their Ph.D. by the date of employment. Official transcripts will be required at interview, and three reference letters from individuals familiar with the applicant’s work are required.
