The Associate Dean will play a crucial role in leadership for the College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) in the years ahead. The Associate Dean collaborates with the Dean and CEPS Administrative team on planning and implementing college strategic initiatives. This includes supporting CEPS administrative leaders in equity-focused program assessment and accreditation, culturally responsive curriculum and program development, cultivation of business and community partnerships, and strategic management of course offerings and scheduling for the college. The Associate Dean also has an important role in facilitating the implementation of policies and procedures related to the college and the university. This position oversees the CEPS Director of Advising and the Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator and reports to the Dean of CEPS.&nbsp;All employees are expected to facilitate CWU’s commitment to diversity and to foster and advance inclusion in the university environment.

The Role:
The Associate Dean is a leadership partner to the Dean. Primary responsibilities include supervision, coordination and leadership for all curricular issues, general education, and graduate education; implementation of College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) courses, programs and strategic priorities; and policy coordination. The Associate Dean also serves on a variety of college and university committees and acts in the Dean's absence.&nbsp;
Job Duties Support for the Dean: -&nbsp;Collaborate with the Dean on planning college strategic initiatives, participate in college fundraising, and coordinate implementation of CEPS strategic priorities. -&nbsp;Provide CEPS administrative leaders support in areas of culturally responsive curriculum development, equity-focused institutional assessment and improvement, human resource management, faculty/staff development and performance evaluations, and budget and finance. -&nbsp;Support the Dean in decision-making, information gathering, report draft preparation, meeting attendance, and follow-through on matters assigned to the chairs and interdisciplinary program directors. -&nbsp;Collaborate with the other Associate Deans. -&nbsp;Collaborate to ensure program quality and effectiveness and to promote student learning, student satisfaction, and student retention in all student populations. -&nbsp;Attend Associate Deans and Academic Affairs meetings. -&nbsp;Act in the Dean’s absence.
Academic Programs and Curricular Management: -&nbsp;Provide strategic management of general education, graduate education, and major program and course offerings, as well as new program development. -&nbsp;Assist with CurricuLog approval changes. -&nbsp;Review and approve course schedules. -&nbsp;Attend Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee meetings. -&nbsp;Support collaboration across units with graduate education and research, including grant proposals. -&nbsp;Provide consultations and advocacy for student concerns.
Communications/Community/College: -&nbsp;Work closely with the Dean, the Director of Development, and the Alumni Relations Coordinator to assist in program development activities and newsletter articles. - Encourage and support business, industry, and community partnerships. -&nbsp;Assist with media relations pertaining to CEPS programs. -&nbsp;Interact with faculty, administrators, staff, students, alumni, other University constituencies, and outside agencies.
Policy Coordination and Committee Membership: -&nbsp;Represent the college on committees as assigned. -&nbsp;Work with the Dean to maintain policies and procedures related to the college and the university. -&nbsp;Approve grade changes, incompletes, independent studies, and internships consistent with university and program policies.
Supervision: -&nbsp;Oversee the supervision of the Director of Advising and the Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator. -&nbsp;Clearly define performance expectations, ensure accountability, and provide ongoing informal feedback, coaching, and mentoring. Minimum Qualifications Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in a discipline associated with programs represented in the College of Education and Professional Studies. A record of teaching effectiveness, professional leadership, and scholarship sufficient to support tenure in one of the CEPS’s academic departments. Demonstrated successful departmental or college-level administrative, leadership, and budget experience in an institution of higher education. Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of inclusion and equity issues within a residential liberal arts environment Collaborative and forward-thinking leadership style with the ability to cultivate and maintain strategic internal and external partnerships to benefit the success of students, colleagues, and initiatives. SUMMARY:
This position performs responsible police work involving the protection and safety of the tribal community, guests and visitors through prevention and control of crime, preserving peace, regulating traffic, and providing emergency services; and performs related duties as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet business needs.

<li>Patrol the tribal community to enforce laws, detect and prevent crime, provide traffic control and protect life and property</li>
<li>Respond to domestic and disputes, and to complaints from citizens of crimes committed, lost or stolen property, and other law enforcement or public safety concerns</li>
<li>Respond to accidents, medical emergencies, fire scenes and other emergencies as required; initiate investigations; administer first aid until more qualified personnel arrive on the scene, and direct traffic flow; contact tow trucks to clear away damaged vehicles</li>
<li>Enforce traffic laws, operate radar, and write violations</li>
<li>Apprehend and arrest law violators, type reports of crimes, and assist in the prosecution of law violators</li>
<li>Collect and preserve evidence and take pictures of crime scenes</li>
<li>Investigate accidents and less serious crimes; assist in investigating serious crime</li>
<li>Testify in court as arresting officer; consult with prosecuting attorneys and investigators</li>
<li>Interview witnesses and victims and take their statements; interrogate suspects</li>
<li>Administer Datamaster test and transport intoxicated people to jail or a detox facility</li>

QUALIFICATIONS:

Incumbent is a sworn commissioned officer responsible for enforcement of tribal and applicable laws to protect life and property on a 24-hour on-call status. Incumbent enforces an assortment of laws, regulations, and ordinances relative to criminal, traffic, civil, and natural resources. Incumbent realizes work involves, at times, an element of personal danger during confrontations with violators, and requires exercise of independent judgment and discretion during emergencies. The incumbent is required to prepare reports, citations, statistical data and logs; appear in court; conduct investigations; make arrests; patrol within the boundaries of the Yakama Reservation; off reservation sites; in-lieu sites and ceded areas.
 
Examples of Work Performed:
Perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Public Safety organizational chart and established chain of command.
May provide technical assistance, as a training officer, to newly hired officers.
Patrol assigned areas within the exterior boundaries of the Yakama Reservation and ceded area by vehicle, foot, air or boat.
Patrol all areas of assignment within the exterior boundaries of the Yakama Reservation, and upon direction, the ceded area and wherever law enforcement services are required.

Must be in excellent physical condition, and capable of sustained, strenuous physical exertion as evidenced by annual medical examination and Physical Efficiency Battery testing.
