The Vessel Fleet Manager is responsible for vessel scheduling, maintenance scheduling, billing, crew assignments, staffing, communications, and the maintenance of a professional operation of vessels. The incumbent will be the primary point of contact for managing the activities of two yards located in Port Jefferson and Southampton, and all oversight related to fleet efficiency, safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness, working with various departments to ensure optimal performance and adherence to regulations. <li>Oversee day-to-day operations of the vessel fleet.</li>
<li>Serve as a liaison between and among the ship's usage clients and the captains and crew, ensuring that the vessels' activities are consistent with the research and educational goals of SoMAS.</li>
<li>Coordinate arrangements for ships' berthing, both at their home ports and at remote locations.</li>

<li>Analyze financial reports and performance metrics to inform decision-making; develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.</li>
<li>Actively oversee the advertising and promotion of vessel use opportunities, both within SoMAS and externally, so that the income from ship activities is balanced with expenses. The Director of Archives is responsible for managing and developing the Archives’ collections, for coordinating closely with the program directors to produce educational and outreach programs, and for managing the budget and daily operations of the Archives. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Working knowledge of community mental health concepts or chemical dependency case management and treatment services; individual assessment, treatment planning and treatment protocols; mental health disorders and diagnostic classifications. Ability to establish positive working relationships with other employees, individuals and their families, other agencies, and the public; prepare concise and complete clinical documentation related to individual treatment and progress in services in a timely and professional manner; work within a team and collaborate with team members; knowledge of and ability to act professionally with regard to a code of ethics and confidentiality. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Operates a motor vehicle; sees using depth perception; stands; sits; moves about the work area; bends forward; stoops; climbs 1 floor of stairs; reaches overhead; lifts, pushes, pulls and carries up to 15 lbs.; move carts weighing up to 15 lbs.; operates a keyboard; speaks clearly and audibly; reads a 12 pt. font; hears a normal level of speech; works in areas that may be exposed to heat, cold, dust, smoke, noise, and chemicals; works in areas that may be wet or uneven.
