<li>Plans, organizes, and maintains official records of the Governing Board including historical and official records, agendas, minutes, Board packets, resolutions, election information, Form 700s, voting regulations, Board policies and procedures, legal opinion,s and required training; indexes Governing Board actions for historical and reference purposes; maintains the Governing Board Policy Handbook. </li>
<li>Assists in updating policies and administrative procedures in accordance with legal mandates and changes in law, following governance approval processes; keeps Governing Board Policy and Administrative Procedure web pages current; informs District community of changes in policy/procedures. </li>
<li>Researches and gathers documents, materials, and background information needed to prepare Superintendent/President and/or Governing Board for meetings, events, and appearances; drafts a variety of reports, positioning statements, timelines, speeches, and presentations; reviews and responds to Public Records Act requests within prescribed timeline. </li>
<li>Drafts for review, types or transcribes highly confidential information regarding personnel matters, labor relations, and controversial issues, individuals or projects with District-wide implications; renders confidential assistance to other executives as necessary. </li>
<li>Acts as an information source regarding the District's policies and procedures; provides information where judgment, knowledge and interpretations are required, especially in the proper handling of confidential information; maintains currency in District rules, regulations, policies and procedures. </li>

<li>Oversees the budget for the Superintendent/President's office; processes electronic requisitions, purchase orders and budget transfers; makes travel arrangements and processes travel expense claims for the Superintendent/President and the Governing Board; orders office supplies, cards, food and materials. </li>

 Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Completion of two years of college-level course work in office administration or a related field, and four years of experience performing complex and challenging administrative support for a high-level administrator involving analytical and technical skills, extensive public contact, and the coordination of office projects and activities; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. The Department of History at Santa Clara University,a Jesuit, Catholic university,&nbsp;seeks applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship (full-time) in the history of the American West with research and teaching interests in the history of technology in the 20th and 21st centuries, the history of California, and/or the history of Silicon Valley, to begin fall 2024. Applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss how their research and teaching intersect with and leverage our location in Santa Clara Valley on the site of the historic Spanish mission Santa Clara, built on the ancestral lands of the Ohlone and the Muwekma Ohlone peoples. SCU is on the quarter system and faculty are expected to teach 6 courses per year (2 each quarter), assuming they are engaged in an active scholarship program.

We seek a historian who can engage with the broader social, demographic, and environmental forces that transformed the “Valley of Heart’s Delight” into “Silicon Valley.” We are particularly interested in a scholar with expertise in digital humanities and public history. Historians who are able to take a long view of the development of northern California from its earliest and persistent Indigenous inhabitants to the technological transformation of the 20th and 21st centuries are especially welcome. We are also looking for historians who can connect the history of technology and the computer industry to various dynamics of the 20th and 21st centuries that it has affected. Such intersections could include the environmental and social impacts of technological development and modern capitalism; . data justice, surveillance, and control; labor and migration shifts, particularly immigration from Asia; and problems of race and gender equity in technology fields. The successful candidate will be able to help our students critically assess popular narratives about the technology industry and its role in our society and develop a complex understanding of its impact on the social and historical dynamics of the modern world.&nbsp;

The College of Arts &amp; Sciences is currently conducting its third cluster hire in the area of Inequality &amp; Social Justice. It is possible that the person hired for this position will be included in the Fall 2024 cohort if their research/teaching is a strong fit. Cluster hire participants will receive mentorship and regular group meetings providing peer support and an interdisciplinary intellectual community to support their scholarly and creative work.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate the potential for excellent, innovative undergraduate teaching and mentoring, and a willingness to support student research. The Role:
The Associate Dean is a leadership partner to the Dean. Primary responsibilities include supervision, coordination and leadership for all curricular issues, general education, and graduate education; implementation of College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) courses, programs and strategic priorities; and policy coordination. The Associate Dean also serves on a variety of college and university committees and acts in the Dean's absence.&nbsp;
Job Duties Support for the Dean: -&nbsp;Collaborate with the Dean on planning college strategic initiatives, participate in college fundraising, and coordinate implementation of CEPS strategic priorities. -&nbsp;Provide CEPS administrative leaders support in areas of culturally responsive curriculum development, equity-focused institutional assessment and improvement, human resource management, faculty/staff development and performance evaluations, and budget and finance. -&nbsp;Support the Dean in decision-making, information gathering, report draft preparation, meeting attendance, and follow-through on matters assigned to the chairs and interdisciplinary program directors. -&nbsp;Collaborate with the other Associate Deans. -&nbsp;Collaborate to ensure program quality and effectiveness and to promote student learning, student satisfaction, and student retention in all student populations. -&nbsp;Attend Associate Deans and Academic Affairs meetings. -&nbsp;Act in the Dean’s absence.
Academic Programs and Curricular Management: -&nbsp;Provide strategic management of general education, graduate education, and major program and course offerings, as well as new program development. -&nbsp;Assist with CurricuLog approval changes. -&nbsp;Review and approve course schedules. -&nbsp;Attend Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee meetings. -&nbsp;Support collaboration across units with graduate education and research, including grant proposals. -&nbsp;Provide consultations and advocacy for student concerns.
Communications/Community/College: -&nbsp;Work closely with the Dean, the Director of Development, and the Alumni Relations Coordinator to assist in program development activities and newsletter articles. - Encourage and support business, industry, and community partnerships. -&nbsp;Assist with media relations pertaining to CEPS programs. -&nbsp;Interact with faculty, administrators, staff, students, alumni, other University constituencies, and outside agencies.
Policy Coordination and Committee Membership: -&nbsp;Represent the college on committees as assigned. -&nbsp;Work with the Dean to maintain policies and procedures related to the college and the university. -&nbsp;Approve grade changes, incompletes, independent studies, and internships consistent with university and program policies.
Supervision: -&nbsp;Oversee the supervision of the Director of Advising and the Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator. -&nbsp;Clearly define performance expectations, ensure accountability, and provide ongoing informal feedback, coaching, and mentoring. Conduct formal performance evaluations. -&nbsp;Recognize value of and promote diverse workforce. Minimum Qualifications Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in a discipline associated with programs represented in the College of Education and Professional Studies. A record of teaching effectiveness, professional leadership, and scholarship sufficient to support tenure in one of the CEPS’s academic departments. Demonstrated successful departmental or college-level administrative, leadership, and budget experience in an institution of higher education. Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of inclusion and equity issues within a residential liberal arts environment Collaborative and forward-thinking leadership style with the ability to cultivate and maintain strategic internal and external partnerships to benefit the success of students, colleagues, and initiatives. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated expertise in analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data. Experience with culturally responsive curriculum development and with assessment of programmatic, general education, and course-level outcomes for accreditation. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams. Excellent relationship building skills and initiative and enjoy working with minimal supervision in a dynamic, collaborative academic atmosphere.
